Samsung Galaxy 2. My old Nokia broke and if I wanted to churn my plan quickly I had to get a smart phone, I just couldn't get a post-paid traditional phone. It came down to the SG2 or the iPone 4s and the SG2's Gorilla Glass sealed the deal.

iPhone 3GS. I wanted a smartphone and the iPhone 4 had just come out, so everyone was looking to get rid of their iPhone 3GS stock and I got a cheap deal.
I'm probably upgrading to whatever iPhone comes out this year though, if one comes out.

htc Sensation cause its a nice phone and Apple's human rights record is sufficiently deplorable to make me not want to give them any money

Still sitting patiently with my Iphone 3GS, because phone contracts in Canada last an insane 3 years, and those greedy coorps give you no option to upgrade. It would cost me MUCH more to upgrade to a newer iphone than to just go out and buy it off another service provider on a new deal.

Even so, I'm pretty happy with my 3GS. It still runs almost everything and I haven't had a single issue with it in the 2.5 years I've had it.

I guess I'll jump to the new iphone later this year.

I've got a Palm Pixi Plus. Damn, I love that phone. I just wish the OS, WebOS, had more support from Palm and HP.

I have a Samsung Star II. Perfect for reading documents. It's a cheap phone, but I'm a poor guy, so you know I'll take what I can get.

Nokia 500 I got it for christmas basically because my parents were embarrassed of me running around with my 3310 when even my grand grandmother had a smartphone.

I think it's a HTC 4g Thunderbolt - or something like that. Looks like this:

Why? Because I am apart of my husbands plan since I never really was a cellphone person to begin with. I obtained my first cellphone at twenty-two, when he asked me if I wanted to be on his 'plan'. He brought it home one day, to replace the one given to me previously. I didn't really know what I was getting and I didn't really care...so...yeah. It's nice.

LG something or other. It was 3 years obsolete when I got it 3 years ago. The most advance feature on it is a crappy late 90s camera.

I got it because I do not need or want something modern. I do not want to play games with my phone. I do not check email. I rarely send texts. All I need is a phone, an address book and an alarm clock. I do not need anything else.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Unadulterated Android experience
Super slick
Beautiful screen (when it came out, it was best in class), 1280x720 over 4.65"
Amazing physical design (like all the Nexus phones, for their day)

I've had about 6 months with it now, came over from a HTC Desire HD, and before that, a Sony Ericsson X10. Always had Android phones, as I've always been attracted to their customisability and amazing integration with Google's other online services, which I use a lot. I doubt I'd consider an iDevice, primarily for the screen. Sure, the whole "Retina" thing is nice (over 300ppi resolution, for those still ignorant), but that's done by the Galaxy Nexus at 320ppi AND at 4.65" rather than 3.5". When you get a bigger screen, you never ever go back; whenever I have to use an iDevice now, I have to squint to look at what I'm doing.

Going a bit off topic here. One of the biggest dividers I see in this thread post between iDevice users and Android (primarily) users is this issue of "simplicity". Some people have made comments about how they'd prefer an iDevice because the iTunes music player is "just better". Android users counter with certain apps found on Google Play that are, in their opinion, superior (and offer the reasons to back their opinion up). I guess this just highlights that some people aren't afraid to dig for what's best; others yet just want what's stock and aren't prepared to look elsewhere.

Nokia 300 (I think). I like it because it has a touch screen but also has normal buttons for texting. When my old one broke I really didn't want to get a complete touch screen phone.

Umm, both use Gorilla Glass. But it withstands falls a lot better than the iPhone, there's a couple of tests on Youtube. Long and short of it is, drop from 3ft onto concrete and the SGS2 will have a big cosmetic dent where the impact was, but no damage to screen. The same drop with the iPhone and it completely shatters both the front and back glass. Messy.

I don't know what the real name is but I call it the Samsung-shitty. I've never gone in for any of that fancy stuff, it can phone, text, alarm clock, has a primitive bejulled, and is built like a rock. It's so basic that you can plug head phones into it but they wont do anything because you can't put music on it.

I didn't want to get a really expensive phone, and almost every Nokia I encountered has lasted for years.
If an eighteen-wheeler tried to run over a Nokia phone, the truck would be totaled.

OT: I got some Samsung piece of crap. It's served me fine over the last few years, had to get a replacement model a few months ago because the screen stopped working though. I don't see the point of having internet on the phone, though, so I'm not really all that sold on smartphones and everything. Texting and calling people is what I use mine for.

I'm so extravagantly cutting edge. It was on sale for like $10. Touch tone sound powered telephone: no batteries, no power cord, and very useful for someone who's constantly in one black out or another.

Some sub-par Samsung with a broken 'pqrs' key and a load of features that I either don't know how to use or my contract doesn't support.

I imagine that I'd greatly appreciate a smartphone, but getting one of those would probably lead to me joining Twitter, and then I'd never get anything done.

I have a Virgin Mobile Droid knock-off, which thankfully runs Droid's OS. I got it because I can't upgrade.

And that's it. The processor sucks, the apps are unstable, the only Internet providers I'm allowed love to crap out.

Sony Ericsson W995. I dislike touchscreens and it looked solid - built like a tank. Plus it has a great music player.
