I prefer japenses style games because well its hard to explain the ones i play tend to be more refined fast paced ussualy very intresting storys and epic plotlines. They tend to be the game where the game only truley opens up once you beat the game like 4 times over. Most "Westernized games" I beat it and thats it nothing more they ussualy try to entice you with collectables that do nothing.

Lol look at devil may cry compared to god of war. Devil may cry is more timing and finese and its all just a dance, intresting and funny characters. God of war (only played 1,2 and the psp one) Seemed more like well uhh people waiting to get beaten down quik time events that defeat bosses easily mashing buttons and when you finnaly get that one powerful move or weapon you abuse it. Also the character is another troubled macho man who must have sex with everyone and kill people in the bloodiest way possible.
Or umm the original 3 resident evils compared to like dead space.... uhg am not even gonna do that one its borderlin and hate rant on dead space.

And yeah, I think Japanese gaming is declining. The console market is stagnant or declining in Japan while western markets are growing, leaving Japanese gaming companies struggling with maintaining their internal market and also finding it hard to simultaneously appeal to western markets that are increasingly full of western made games that have easier cultural relevance to western gamers. The gaming market is also growing older, and western companies have adapted better to this by including more mature themes in their games while Japan has not.
