Now, I know some of you may think that I'm rehashing some old "what makes you" topic about how you are different/special/unique/talented, and yeah we all have our talents, weird or otherwise, and we're all different, otherwise this forum wouldn't have any purpose and would be boring as hell.

However, I've been thinking adventure! I've done some crazy things in my life, and I may just share them with you.

But what stories, of unusual survival in the face of near certain death, incredible displays of skill that've won you glory, or feats of endurance/strength in times of great need can you share!

What have you done that have suprized you, and made you think "Damn, I dunno where that came from!" or "Holy crap, how am I not dead!?"?

Share! Boast! Tell me the tales of your glory, your victory, your survival!

I mean even if you don't think it's that special, we've all lived different lives, so I know we all have some adventure stories, and we all have different experiences to share... If you think to yourself "But Doomy, I haven't really done anything crazy awesome..." you probably have a camping tale, or have been somewhere beautiful or gone traveling or something, those are adventures too, and equally worthy of tales told!

Keep in mind, this isn't a oneupmanship thread, all of our adventures are unique in that they are our own adventures, so it's not a competition.

Also, I intend to tell a few stories in the midst of this discussion, but I want you to start, because this isn't all about me, even though I am awesome, it's about us all, and how awesome we all are.

Once when I was little, I accidentally cut into my thumb with a saw (awesomely though, as you must remember when you are little, everything else seems like a big deal).

I was with my friends making a den in some overgrowth. My job was to cut branches because our 6 year old brains thought they ruined the décor. I was day dreaming and felt something on my thumb, "What's that I thought?" looked down and low and behold the saw teeth were embedded into the base of my thumb. Panic!!

Can't tell mum, shouldn't be using a saw even if it was for wood craft. So my friends used leaves to heal the wound because they once heard them be called a 'doctor leaf'.

All grown up now and all that remains is a scar of two saw teeth that lightly cut the skin. The den has since been demolished and had a house built in it's place.

I may not have achieved riches, fame or been part of an event worthy for you to know my name. But once when I was little a created a world, overcome a fatal wound and I didn't even cry.

I had my moment of fame... or rather, potential moment of fame back in the nineties...

The funny thing now, being that it doesn't seem like a big deal at all to me any more... *shrug*

I dunno really.

I suppose still being in my first proper romantic relationship for 9 years is a pretty big deal, but it't not special.

I have a harmless heart murmur? Is that special?

I was and have always been a major introvert but I was damn popular in high school. Everybody knew me even when I hadn't spoken to people. They heard of the stupid shit and apparently funny catch phrases I made up. Was kind of nice and then real life hit and I was alone for the most part.

Not that I minded it but to this day I still can't figure out why I was so popular.

That...kind of hurts.

Also, I think the miniscule worth of my post shows that I am not special in any way.
It's not something that makes me amazing, it being what the title of the thread so politely requests for, but it's pretty amazing how lazy I am...I guess.

Also too lazy to really think about what I could contribute with.

What about your avatar? That's amazing. At least to me. Also the fact that you are still here Fraughty!

Now excuse me...

Sadly, it wouldn't be nearly as amazing without Fanboy's amazing work on the lightsaber (and the snow and snowball in the winter version), so I can't take too much credit.

I guess the fly and smoke is alright, so I can count that as an achievement.

I find you finding that I'm still here amazing way more amazing, though, so I'll count that!

If you only knew, if you only knew.

I have to keep those openings closed, for if I didn't the truth would pour out.

Well, it's one of the main things I remember you by. We really must ketchup sometime. Let's go to PM's. :F

On topic though...why do you find that amazing? :)
Because you're a very pleasant person (god, that is the driest way to put that) and I like beng the target of nice and flowery feelings like that. :3

For all my monstrous detachment and aloof coolness, my heart is the spongiest sponge for warm rainbows and cuddly kittens (metaphorically, of course) that there is.

I discovered last week I've a long white scar on my forehead stretching down from my hairline, and I've absolutely no recollection of how it got there. None, and no blackouts or recent head injuries that could have caused it.

Also I just got a permanent job, and I'm getting a car this weekend.

And... erm.... I'm really good at whistling. That'll do.

THIS.

http://zitscomics.com/2012/08/28/blush/

This is one of the cartoonists who do the comic strip Zits, and that link on the page leads you to this video review I did. The Zits crew saw me, and loved the video enough to put it on the official Zits website.

This is the video in question, if you just want to watch it without going through the Zits website.

about a year and a half ago, I was at a festival thingy with my parents. We decided to step out of the crowd to eat in the little area between the door and sidewalk on a store. My stepdad leans against a waist high wall right below a window (his butt is right under the windowsill). The window completely shatters and he falls backwards into the display. This was quarter-inch thick, un-laminated, un-tempered plate glass. I was standing the farthest away from it. When someone asks if we're okay, I look down and see that my hand has a big cut in it. Then it started bleeding. Oh man did it bleed. I had to get nine stitches in the area between my middle finger and ring finger. It's a pretty sweet scar.

Oh and I guess I'm "talented" enough to get into a prestigious art school.

I can think of one moment of sheer awesomeness.

When I was a freshman in high school, I was very committed to my attendance and didn't want to miss a single day. So even when I woke up with a fever one morning and was told to stay home sick, I went to school irregardless. I was dizzy, hot, dozing off, and had to clean my face every five seconds. Despite all that, I was able to take a Biology test and get a B on it and was able to run the mile. At the end of the school day, my fever broke and I went back to normal.

My ability to control the urge not to rip the piss out of everyone and everything i see in the most bitchiest and mean fashion possible.

This is why i don't drink, when i drink the "dick head comment" filter goes out the window and i wind people off the fucking clock by ripping on them.

So i guess the fact i'm 23 and avoid alcohol and clubs like the plague but would rather hang out at a friends home or mine having a smoke and chatting is amazing.

Considering that doing this in the eyes of the law is completely illegal, yet i cause no trouble to anyone. -_-

Eh, I can't really think of anything that would set me apart from the common man. However, in my free time, I like to plan assassinations of people I know in my head. The scariest part is that they would all work. That's a skill, right? I guess I would make a good tactician.
