I watched my dog Elvis die a couple weeks ago. I was in college when my mother called me and told me that he was incapable of controlling his bowels and they were going to have him put to sleep. Elvis had been declining for a while now. He could no longer run due to the arthritis in his back hips, and climbing stairs had become an arduous task for him. Elvis was a black shepard and weighed about 100 pounds so I knew he probably wouldn't live too much longer as he was already 13 and larger dogs tend to not live as long.

I've been on the internet for a while so I've seen my share of sad dog stories, and as soon as she told me that Elvis was being put to sleep one in particular popped into my head. It was a story about a boy and his golden retriever named rusty. Towards the end of the story he talked about how he brought the dog to the vet, and before he was put to sleep, the vet recommended that he go so he wouldn't have to watch him die. He left, but after he did so, he realized that he had just left his childhood friend to die in a strange place full of people he didn't know. He cried and wished he could have done things differently. After I read that story I promised myself I wouldn't let that happen. I knew what I had to do, so I made the six hour drive back up home, and spent the last few hours with him. I pet him, told him that I loved him, and fed him cheese, his favorite food.

We went to the vet, and I went in to the examining room with Elvis and my parents. She asked if I wanted to be present when the lethal dose was administered, and of course I said yes. She brought him into a separate room to give him a sedative, and brought him back in on a metal table with a sheet on it. I started petting him and told him not to be scared. I told him I was here and that I loved him. As the vet gave him the lethal dose I could feel his breathing slow and then eventually stop.

I cried. But, I know I did the right thing. I was with my friend until the very end and I did everything for him that I could.

RIP Elvis. I love you.

Pixar movies.

Toy Story 3 and Wall-e are the worst for it.
What a strange lexicon you have: replacing "best" with "worst".
I see what you're getting at XD. Im trying to think of another way to put it but im really saying that those films are (personally) notorious or infamous. Saying they're the best at making me cry doesnt really give the right connotation but saying that they're the worst for not making me cry makes more sense... unless im just crazy.

Maybe its a glass half full glass half empty kinda thing. (which for the record i decide on context rather than being eternally optimistic/pesimistic)

The end of Saving Private Ryan made me well up pretty bad...
I would have if it ended on the bridge with him shooting at the tank with the pistol, rather than jumping back to the present and then the old-man ryan starts crying... overdid it for me, kinda took me out of it.

also, most films with dogs/pets... because something always happens to it and i get sad :(

And I'll admit a little prickle when

This, and on the same topic,

Dumbledore's funeral always kills me, without fail, even though I know it's coming

guess I'm a sucker for good writing.

I your eyes didn't get at least a little wet at any point during Mobile Fighter G Gundam, you are not a real man.

It has mostly to do with the mistakes I made in the past. I really wish I could take it all back.

This is extremely unheard of but I cried hard at the end of Yugioh. It was my childhood. Plus it was really sad.

*goes and cries again.*

Also, Hughes' funeral in Fullmetal Alchemist made me cry extremely hard. Mainly because of his daughter's shoutings.

The announcement of Duke Nukem Forever FINALLY coming out. (joking but I'm making a point).

Who WOULDN'T cry about the most anticipated game of FOREVER finally having a true release date?! I seriously can't wait to play it and see if it was seriously worth the wait. (Not sarcasm. Seriously I wanna play it.)

But being serious, I'm probably gonna cry when I meet my Mom for the first time this coming Saturday or Friday. She and my Dad divorced when I was little and a lot recently happened. She's in the hospital one state over for cancer treatment so I'm going to get to see her. For the first time.

Babylon 5, final episode. After investing 5 years in it the end just cuts into me. In a good way though, not like Firefly where you're sad because there should be more.

Lots of others, MGS3, Iron Giant (although they ruin it with the SPOILERS 'second ending'). It might be lame but Titanic? that gets me every damn time too. Damn you Cameron, damn you!

and on good old James, Terminator 2..."I know now why you cry, but it's something I can never do" *cue awesome music & cheesy yet touching scene*

Also, so very many Doctor Who Episodes (including the old series) That show just likes throwing tear jerkers at us.

Crying about Titanic isn't lame. It's a really good movie. That was the last good thing James Cameron ever did. If you argue that Avatar was good, let me just tell you something now:

He's making two more.

Avatar 2 is underwater.
Avatar 3 is in space.

Just saying.
