Eh, the only sane ones running are Romney (who invented universal healthcare in america and is a big flip-flopper), Gingrich(I put my money on him because I like his politics, doesnt excuses his conduct as certain points though) and Huntsman (probly the best all around...too bad hes only 4% in the polls). In more positive news, out of Kansas 6 reps and 2 senators, 4 reps and 1 senator relized "Government shutdown=disaster of epic proportions" and put thier spite of Obama aside for the better-ment of America. They have my vote in the up coming election. The other 3...unless they can put their shit together, No vote for them.Freezy_Breezy said:American politics really isn't my domain. Oh, you meant people like the President and Sec. of Defense. K, Ill bite. There hasnt been a SecDef I REALLY liked since 1991 and the last time the president led troops in battle was Washington during the Whiskey Rebellion. Although, to that end, I usually try to vote for presidents with military service, because then they will know that the descion to send troops should not be taken lightly as on time THEY were the guy in the foxhole being shot at.I'd also like to point out I said "Commanders and Kings", not generals. Generals go in to battle. A bunch of stiff in suits, you know, the guys who actually STARTED the war, get to sit in big leather chairs at the Pentagon, sipping warm coffee while someone from below the poverty line sits in a foxhole waiting to be shot by someone who is fighting because half his family got pulverised by a bomb dropped by satellite ordered by the aforementioned git with his coffee.
Eh, sometimes I think war is nessisary to stop evil, but I try to hold a sliver of hope that someday we can all live in peace...and then the rational side of me comes out and says "K*bleep*, we both know that will never happen. Even Einstien, the worlds second largest pacifist knew that." Uggg X(All I can really say is that war is inevitable. Personally, I think humans are incapable of peace. It's a bit of a sad truth. And I do see where you're coming from, honestly, but you're killing more people because someone killed people. This is not a good outcome. Oftentimes, it makes YOU look like the evil men.
I dont think ANYTHING is above criticism, and As I said, I support Israels right to exist because of the Holocaust, but they cant us that and the trillions in US military equipment to bully the entire region. I support the idea of Israel, but I will treat actual Israel with a 10' stick until they actually TRY to find peace. But that wont happen. But that won't happen, because it can't be justified for the gain. It's hard to kill your own countrymen for the sake of another.... without profit, that is. I just hate Israel because they're a recognised nation that acts like a terrorist organisation, and it's free from criticism because the US is always standing behind it.
Kentucky is acutally considered to be in the south. But in terms of economy, values, etc, the South is like the Midwest twin (but more extreme and rebellious) brother.Kentucky is midwest, right? I liked Kentucky.
Well, they are for me. Unless you are saying to do something immoral or what have you.Unfortunately, good intentions are not, never have been and never will be enough for this species.
You be suprised how many time Kansas is made fun of in the States alone, not even considering the internet. For non-Kansans, there are two views of us.Oh, I figured. I never once assumed you were representative of people in New York or LA. And I dunno, that sounds a lot like rural areas here. Well, not the trapped in time part, or the commie part, but the latter part.
And thats why we do it. Because it is a good thing. It says "I still belive in America enough to respect her symbol, I just think our ways have become "dirty."Also, you learn something new every day, although I still don't understand it, because washing sounds like a good thing to me.
Why do attacks on religion make you rage? From my point of view, all ideas should be open to criticism.Skullkid4187 said:What makes me rage is hollywood, da media(ALL of it), people who hate the country they live in(only in the Western Euro-North American vicinity), picking on Americans for being Americans, attacks on religion, the elitist attitude, stereotypes. But other than those little things nothing. I don't rage![]()
There is a difference between attack and criticism. Ah, ok. So, more accurately, you rage because of attacks on the *religious*, not so much the religion.Skullkid4187 said:There is a difference between attack and criticism. Sounds like you're not an American. Nah, but I know what you mean. You know, those are all good issues and I agree he could have done more. Especially with education; not so much NASA, though it'd still be nice to have them around (I'm the worst nerd ever, I know). The unfortunate thing is that a lot of those issues aren't the big ticket issues. There's also only so much he can do.TestECull said:Snip
Adding to this list now that I'm not quite as dead tired:Endorenna said:The WW2 thing mentioned at the beginning really gets my goat too. Then there's people talking about how the Civil War was just about slavery and nothing else.
Also, at this particular moment, I'm raging because I just had to watch the most goddamn frustrating episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with my sister. >_> For those who've seen the series, the episode is "Wild at Heart". Way to screw up the most consistently likeable character, Joss Whedon. Yeah. This series has this "rage" effect on me quite a bit over its course, come to think of it.
If they just took G. Washingtons "Re-election be damned!" attitude, people will like them enough to re-elect them FOR a second term. I didnt "vote" for him in 2008, I "voted" for McCain. But, I will say, I will give Obama an 89% for effort. He isnt the only one who screwed up. So did most of congress, and I will hold them accountable for that to. But, as it stands now, he has failed to turn things around (again, not all his fault) and by my values, that means he has to go, and heres hoping that the one who replaces you does better. But again, Congress is being held accountable in my book to. I looked up the voting record of my Reps and Senators (6 and 2 respectivly), and out of them, 2 reps and 1 senator have failed in my books, because while they all 8 disliked Obamas policies and voted against them (with is totally understandable) the 3 failures disliked him enough to perpetuate the near-gov shutdown. Sorry ladies and gents, but that crap will not fly. X(triggrhappy94 said:My hope is that he gets re-elected, whether or not that makes sense. It'd be great if Presidents took the whole "live fast and die young" approach, but there's probably more to than that. You can probabaly also get more done in eight years than four. The reason, that I imagine, is why more people don't go all in in their first term is because they need to keep some of the moderates on their side, and controversal issues don't always win them over.BOOM headshot65 said:If they just took G. Now, heres hoping that at least 51% of Kansans agree with me on our Reps and Senators, and 51% of Americans agree with me on Obama.

I know, and I dont use the word "evil" lightly, only in the case of objective evils. Like, The Nazies were objectively Evil (unless you are a neo-Nazi scum), Stalin was Evil, Saddam was Evil. But the kind of evil I am talking about is thankfully extremely rare.Freezy_Breezy said:The idea that there is objective "evil" out there is still laughable to me. "Evil" is subjective and mostly varies from culture to culture. There are very few universal "evils". A lot of people consider your ridiculous health care system "evil" but we don't invade you over it.
It doesnt. Again, I want them to live in peace with the Palistienans, find some way to share the land, mostly because I think the jewish people deserve to be treated better after what happened to them in WW2, but also because now, it would be too late to move. But I think that we should help the victiems of Genocide, or Ethnic Cleasning, or what ever the heck the UN calls it now so they dont have to uphold thier promise to stop genocide. I know that the Kurds in Iraq loved us and viewed us as liberaters and saviors, and I support the idea of a Kurdish state...too bad that would take land from Turkey, Iraq, and a little of Russia.Wait what? How does the Holocaust justify anything? I mean, how much ethnic cleansing has gone on in the past century? They don't all just get their own land and the rights to kick off whoever else was there, then discriminate the fuck out of them, create and extremist state and start killing kids.
Wait I think I got off message.
No, how the region is determained IS geographical, and two regions can be geographically similar. I was refering to a region that was CULTURALLY similar though. For instance, the Midwest is like the polar opposite of the West Coast (usually) when it come to Culture, but the West Coast is similar to the Northeast. In the same way, The South is Similar to the Midwest. So the geographical considerations are actually cultural and not geographical? Weird.
Not exactly punched, but more "Ugg. *facepalm*" I know that one time, my mom actually went to a middleschool administrators confreance in Georgia, and another principal there, when she found out she was from Kansas, started asking her questions like she just jumped off a magical tornado from Oz. Although, there is one town nearby that claims to be the HOME of the Wizard of Oz. They have a house on the edge of town with the wicked witch crushed under it, Oz themed stores, the whole nine-yards. So they might not be to ashamed of it.I probably wouldn't be. I heard if you mention the Wizard of Oz over there you get punched in the face. But I'm sure Alabama gets made fun of more.
Who is "we" if you dont mind me asking. We sure do.
Woah, your hatred of the US is coming through a little strong there.SneeringCanuck said:I like to think of myself as a 20th century history buff, and whenever I hear something along the lines of "The US saved Europe's ass in WW2" I want to bash my head against a wall.

Such a reaction was to be expected, but beside that I was just trying to illustrate a point and to provoke thoughts. Everything we rage about is others humans, their actions, their reactions, their creations, their 'mistakes'.Freezy_Breezy said:When people fucking /thread themselves.
