And not just the traditional sense. What makes you think deeply. Contemplate if you will. For me it's got to be classical piano that envokes a feel of nostalgia and wonder at the same time. It what I use to kick a little inspiration when I draw/paint and the feeling is amazing, and makes me feel altogether more creative.

So escapists - What do you do to relax and get your mind wondering?

Warm summers day with black coffe watching the birds fly by.

A early sun rise a coffe and a smooth walk in my little village
I'm actually envious.

Everything. My mind is constantly thinking deeply; philosophical problems, the future of the earth, how society should be, ways we can develop civilization better, what I should do with my life to make it even better, whether I should have a glass of orange juice or Orangina when I get home...

I'd say music definitely is a contributing factor to this. Just random songs that are mellow or sad/thought provoking. I also think most when it's dark, but not always.

Watching Google Earth and stalking my ex-gfs on street view. That really makes me think.

I like to listen to audio books while I paint. I've started doing it just recently, and surprisingly I feel like I can concentrate better despite seemingly dividing my attention. I listened to Sleepy Hollow while doing a particularly boring painting assignment and it made it one hundred times better for me.

Listening to music. Usually songs that contain the piano in it or more classical instruments. (Pretty much any song from Rob Dougan will get me to sit down and let my mind wonder)

Calculus, particularly vector calculus, the most efficient path between two points isn't always a straight line.

What makes me think?

My Brain
Reading a good, big, old book. Like H.G. Wells.
Music from my favorite band, The Killers. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EieA3KIykjg&feature=related]
'Still Alive' from Portal, slowed down 800%. [http://soundcloud.com/xihilisk/still-alive-from-portal-slowed-down-800] Seriously, it's really soothing.

I like pondering while looking at a nice view, and my school's perfect for it.

Oh, wow. That really is a nice view, and that's from a school you say? Amazing.

A nice warm afternoon with a good book, a drink of rootbeer in hand and lying on a hammock in the back yard. Always does the trick.

Taking wiki walks on Wikipedia often leads my brain down interesting avenues, and when I find something I really want to drill down into I'll follow the cited sources and learn in depth.

A lot of music, long rides, or sleepless nights.

I also space out a lot. So, that helps.
