A sandbox rpg version of fightclub! Or turn the Matthew Shardlake into an LA Noire style game.

guants ghosts, no other can compare (though a game with all the teams and their gear with them would be awesome)

Chronicles of pern would make a cool game, and i do relies there has been one before but another one would be good. and a starship troopers game the stick closer to the books would be great.

A futuristic LA Noire type game based on "I,Robot", or possible "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" (and/or the Blade Runner movie I suppose). Facial recognition + androids = win.

I'd love an LA Noire style Fables game, where you play as Bigby Wolf, solving crimes in Fabletown.

How about a text adventure?

What will you do?
>Eat green eggs and ham
You can't eat ye green eggs and ham!

And then you're left wondering why you can't eat ye green eggs and ham.
i don't know why, but a thought entered my head, they need to do text based adventure for Leisure Suit Larry. They could call it is Sext Base Adventure

A game set in the Discworld universe by Terry Pratchett or the Xanth universe by Piers Anthony would be awesome in my opinion. Both are quite expansive worlds with plenty of opportunities for interesting gameplay. The satirical nature of either series would lend it's self well to a Fable like game.
fucking. fuck. yes. Diskworld.

or The Demonata Series by Darren Shan. all of them actually, but those first!
and an Agatha Christie/Sherlock Holmes L.A. Noire style series.
also, i want an Easter Egg done by Epic Games where you fight demonic dreams about the murderer by going to sleep in the victim's bed using a bastard-sword because dammit i want a blade-wielding Miss fucking Marple!

My first pick would be Starship troopers, imagine marauding in a giant, mechanized suit with a flamethrower and nuclear missile launcher. Of course basing it on the movies would justify immediate purging of the dev team.

Also the Dragonlance series assuming they were able to properly balance magic (in the books, you could use a spell once in combat, and then you had to 'relearn' it). Personally I think it would be like a Bioware RPG except that you would have your full team and decent friendly AI.

A free roaming spaceship game based in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy universe. And when you get rich enough, you can buy custom made planets. That would be awesome. Also, you can purchase an improbability drive as an add-on for your ship.

The Republic Commando books. The first game was awesome, but I really wanted a sequel. The books were pretty good and provided an interesting number of combat situations.

The Mountains of Madness, as well as most of the more monsterous Lovecraftian works.
I'd Play a game based on Swan Song by Robert R. McCammon. Best book I ever read, or will likely ever read.

@Racecarlock I would buy that in a heartbeat.

I remember pitching a game on a similar thread a couple months ago. A Discworld MMO wherein you chose who you want to be, where you want to be from, what you want to do. Thieve's Guild, Assassin's Guild, Musician's Guild, Unseen University, simple life up in the Ramtops, simpler life down on the Djel or maybe you just want to do some PVP in the Mended Drum. Just remember to keep your coin purse tightly sealed around C.M.O.T. Dibbler. Maybe The Shades would serve as a larger PVP arena...

As for something different...I am tempted to mention the Darth Bane trilogy but I fear what it would become.
