What other forums do you frequent?

What other forums do you go to besides The Escapist? Or is this the only site you currently frequent? Also, what forums did you used to frequent but left? Why did you leave them?

Right now I'm currently frequent the Katawa Shoujo forums. I like seeing insight about the game from other people.

I used to visit various forums related specifically to one particular game. But discussions for those forums usually dry up after a while. One in particular being Valkyria Chronicles. Last time I went there not much was going on.

which has proven rather difficult since I was staying away from here due to ME3 (which so far has ASSUMED DIRECT CONTROL over my life)

I tried reddit for a bit...but the posting time limit thing annoyed me

The Escapist is the only forum I frequent and post on relatively often now. I post extremely occasionally on GameFAQS, but not nearly as much as I do here.

This is the first forum that's really kept me staying since Nintendo's original NSider forums, so yeah. I guess that says something.

Used to post on Xbox360Achievements.org as they had quite a good community from what I recall but I sort of just stopped using the forum. Still go back on the page for news every once in a while.

And I always seem to have the Neoseeker forums open whenever I play Football Manager. Generally there's good guides, tips and discussion for whatever level you're playing at.

Something Awful. To be honest, I kinda love the draconian moderation style. Also their games forum is incredibly organized, engaging, helpful, and interesting.

Basically, it's a psychological harbor from the Escapist, which is pretty much a case study in Sturgeon's Law.

Reddit's the main place for me nowadays. I never knew it was so good!

I used to be active in the Nexon forums, mainly the Combat Arms section.

They were pretty awful to begin with. Kids, kids everywhere.

Spoiler: CAUTION! LONG STORY INCOMING!

The forums and the game were supposed to have an age restriction, but since we shared the forums with Maple Story and Mabinogi or whatever we couldn't post anything over PG13. Foul language became a bannable offense.

To make it worse there were "I am so mature"-16 year olds, the "I have a girlfriend and go to the gym, don't say I don't have a life"-18 year olds, etc.

Everyone started claiming "troll!" if you disagreed with them. Mods even made a "No trolling" rule which was pretty stupid because nobody there was smart enough to troll someone.

Mods were pretty biased, and there was one mod who was Serbian and did not understand English. He banned me for thirty days (and I had no previous infraction) because he misread my post. He never tried to apologize.

There were no PM function, so there were a lot of "@ someone" threads. The search function was broken 4/5 of the time.

Sadly it was filled with Turks. Let me fill you in.


Basically we knew Turks as hackers. They hacked a lot. They were top in percentage.

In overall number, Germany had more hackers. Don't forget that Germany has a lot of Turks so Turks around the world chose to associate their account with Germany, probably because they had family there or something.

There was a Turkish dude who was the top player, until Nexon made it a bannable offense to have other accounts found to be "hacking" accounts.

He had about 30 (!) hacking accounts. You could be banned for hacking and come back in a new account, but having an account found meant all your active accounts are kaput.

Then a guy who was pretty cool became the top ranked player and turks hated him.

Since Turkey also gave a lot of profit to Nexon, they made a Turkish website and forum. LOGIC!

They never made a French, German or Dutch site. But they made a Turkish one.

Long story short, there was a shitstorm because they banned people for not speaking English in the forum and Turkish in the Turkish forum. They were making a lot of threads against the top ranked player and he tried to defend himself.

The Turkish mod banned him for 30 days.

There. Now you know how much of a crappy place the Nexon forums were.

There was also a dutch dude who couldn't take any criticism. He made really shitty montages and when he got flak he said he only made them for fun and not for our entertainment.

I've tried others, but the conversation never seems as good... I like the overview of the games industry, and the general chit chat we get up to on here!

I also don't like the aparrent lack of forum conduct other sites tend to have, it just seems to end up in flame wars over nothing, conversations going wildly off topic and a huge increase in idiots populating the forums! :S
