What PC games *do* have region lock?

Ok, so I was reading a post in a thread here that says PC games have virtually no region locked games. I looked to see if anyone had started a list of the games that did, but I didn't see one. So, what games do?

I know that any game from a downloadable source (e.g. steam) is region-locked. But what about other games?

I just want to avoid any problems I may have with my games if I ever get the chance to live abroad.

Thanks!

Most CD,DVD games are not region locked. I highly doubt that they will become region locked or it will increase the cost of the product without giving any significant benefit. The only problem is Region setting in window for some games so if you try running a non english game on an english windows.

Interesting...
It all depends on how they trace where you are, whether they trace via IP or from where your pc is registed to.

I found this after some searching but it seems like it only applies to retail copies of games

If you are going to buy steam games then you might have a problem because since you need to be online and have steam active they may be region locked, but i do believe that you can redownload them if you move to another region or you can talk to them about it, the other option is dont buy region locked games. They would be labeled as such. Or only buy them in the region you plan on living in.

I don't think it's even technically possible via anything other than Steam or the likes, and even with those I'm pretty sure you can download the game anywhere in the world after you've bought it. Language is a much more likely to be a problem.

edit
checked and apparently i am wrong, steam games are region locked afterall.

Steam games are region-locked, and so are GamersGate games. Most of the time it has to do with the specific language in the distribution contract.

So basically PC games have no region lock *on the disc*. It's only the downloadable games so far because of the authentication process? What about recent EA and other games that use the new Securom authentication thing?

Ragnarok Online II does. but not the kind you might be thinking about.

You need a Korean Social Security Number to get access to the game.
That is, until the beta comes stateside (or if you play on a private server >_>).

Actually for Steam case if your game is region locked, you can mail Valve asking for them to change the game to whatever place you moved.
