What really pisses me off about KINECT

The biggest differences here are that Microsoft is putting way more behind this then Sony ever did for EyeToy, and Kinect is technically more robust then the EyeToy.

Y'know, I didn't really think about it that way before...I see you point. Though that seems to be the fad lately, blatantly rip off somebodyelse's idea and claim that you're an original genius. I've also heard that Mass Effect is a direct rip off of some book...I don't remember the title and I like to point out that "Twilight" is just a dumbed down yet blatant rip-off of the "Sookie Stackhouse" novels (more people know that by the title of the HBO series based off of them titled "True Blood"). Hey, we should "come up with something completely original" based of something that's already made a good profit and become rich while being congratulated on are imaginative genius.

OT: To those saying the OP is like saying that all consoles are ripping off the Atari. Well, the other consoles don't claim that being a console is their original idea. The OP seems to be saying that the Kinect claims to be a "completely original idea"...though I don't recall hearing that.

What pisses me off is that Microsoft and Sony see the success of the Wii, and think it's motion control.

What makes the Wii sell is just that. The "the". People see it in commercials, and they don't see graphics or even games, the see people having fun. It's transended the status of a gaming console in the eye of the public and become it's own thing.

Notice how they rarely advertise anything other than Wii Sports? Because they don't want people to think about buying video games, theres a stigma with those. People buy a "fun machine". And the games they do advertise with commercials are Wii Fit and Mario Kart, a fitness thing that seems like it's adding functionality rather than being a game, and fucking Mario. Everybody loves Mario.

It's not ripping off the Wii, there's no controller. The Sony Move is ripping off the Wii. Kinect is an enhanced EyeToy camera. It'll have more features than Wii or Move in less time.

MS is putting this out to try and dig into Nintendo's casual gamer market. They see the sales numbers and the overlap... both MS and Sony know that several gamers own a hardcore system and a Wii, so they figure, why not just own one system that does it all?

It's all about market share. Nothing more. It won't replace the 360's lineup of games aimed at hardcore or mature audiences.

Kinect and Eye toy are like big pervy cameras that watch your every move ontop of the tele. Wii sensor bar is small and mysterious..and wont laugh while you use Wii fit in your jim-jams D:

Kinect is nothing like th eye toy... while conect may seem like a no controller contoll scheme for the x-box, it's really just a cover. Bill gates use it,to spy on people when they're walkign around more or less naked thinking they're save in the privacy of their homes.

Then he gathers information, and sells it to comercial companies, and politicians and whoever else wants to pay for info about what people do when they think they're alone.
then he laugs at them, cause he's über rich, and wanks to their nudity, and wipes off with a 100$ bill, just cause he can.

The gameing functionallity is a cover up, it's the greatest vourer tool ever created.

Lot's of fresh opinions being shared here recently. So why not share mine..Sony and Microsoft are both trying to copy Nintendo in the motion control department. Think about it Nintendo actually tried it first way back then with the Powerglove. That blew goats and then they waited a few decades and the Wii happened, granted it's not perfect but nothing ever is. I've seen the Kinect and what it does and so far it's looks quite broken. The Playstation Move i still have yet to see in action so judgment is reserved there.

Note: Before any trolls try and flame me or spread their fanboy idiocy on me I will say this. This is my opinion based on the information i have viewed so if there are things i have missed or perhaps gotten wrong correct me on it but do so in a civil way and not in a "HA HA You got it wrong you're stupid LOL" type way.

The biggest thing that pisses me off is it's not a standard USB attachment, making hooking it up to the PC harder, and requiring a ridiculous dongle for older Xbox 360s.

... I don't know how you didn't notice it, but this entire generation (that as far as I'm concerned, started with the fucking xbox), has been nothing but all three console manufacturers ripping/jerking each other off. The kinest/eyetoy wasn't the start and won't be the end.
