Cross-Medium adaptions almost always suck, because they can never seem to keep the meaning and feel of the original.

Anyone who has read the Sword of Truth book series knows that the television adaptation is terrible.

I'm just hoping that HBO doesn't totally destroy A Song of Ice and Fire with the Game of Thrones.

Yup this happened with The Beach, an epic book with a batshit crazy ending that bleedin' Hollywood had to go and make... well, Hollywood. Luckily I only watched the movie once and have read the book many times since then :D saaaaaved.

See, when I heard about the series, all I could think was - oh look, a tv show based off a book series that I can't stand. I wonder if there will be yeards and chickens that are not chickens in it. Maybe they will spend 2 episodes extolling the virtues of Ayn Rand's philosophy.

Then I saw an episode that had Ted Raimi in it, and thought Hey, this doesn't seem to follow the books. I think I'll give it a shot.

As for me, I could not stand the very loose and very bad adaptation of Robert J Sawyer's FlashForward. The book was significantly better then the movie and a large part of it took place in Geneva, Switzerland. Even better, there was no Joe Fiennes and his carboard acting to stink up the book.

I love the doom games to pieces. They are ace. But then I saw the doom film and as much as I like The Rock no amount of mind bleaching will ever let me forget how terrible that film was.

We can't blame The Rock though, Welcome to the Jungle was great.

This kind of discussion should always have the addendum that the version of X in the new medium has to be bad because it is bad, not bad because you prefer the original version. Constantine was a pretty good movie even though the comics were awesome.

I love DnD but those movies were just such a crime against movies.

The book 'Maximum Ride: The Final Warning', when i read the main antagonist's name was "the Uber Directer", and that he was a brain in a jar, attached to a robot... i just shut the book, and have never opened it since. the maximum ride books 1-3 are my favorite books of all time, but... THE UBER DIRECTER? wtf?!

Ever saw The Golden Compass? People i knew who loved the book actually ended up falling asleep in the theatre. It was just that dull.

Nothing really ruins anyting else for me. Its kind of weird to think that the addition of an entry into a series somehow dilutes the original. Atleast i think so

Seriously. I loved the Sword of Truth, so I figured watching the TV adaptation would be a logical choice. I was so very wrong.

It has Shaun Bean in it. I have never seen him in anything bad.

Also harry potter. The books were pretty enjoyable, but i find the movies really lame
