I've recently been thanking about Crash Bandicoot. He was one of Sony's original mascots back in the days of the PS1, but every since the PS2 came out Crash's games have just gone down hill. One of the main problems with his series has is that it hasn't changed alot from the PS1 days which is kinda a problem.
Remember back in 2008 when Rare made the BanjoKazoi (I'm sorry if i spelled that wrong) sequal for the 360. The game was not only true to the series but also had that whole building vehicles gameplay thing which added a brand new element to the series. In my opinion I think Sony should do this with the Crash series, add some new game element that people would like, so the series can get a brand new start.
So I ask you my fellow Escapist members what do you think would make the Crash series better?

*facepalm*

Crash Bandicoot is not a Sony franchise. The characters are owned by (unless I'm mistaken) Vivendi Universal, and originally was Sony exclusive as Naughty Dog were the developers hired to make the Crash Bandicoot games, back when they were good.

Once the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube were out, Naughty Dog were bought as exclusive developers for Sony, but Vivendi wanted the Crash series to go multiplatform, so they hired different developers to make the Crash games from then on.
Traveller's tales didn't do too bad with Wrath of Cortex, but the rest were awful simply because the developers they hired suck.

Poor camera angles, unbalanced enemies, and Crash was awkward all around to control.

Naughty Dog went on to create the Jak series, then the Uncharted series, which both boast the same quality of gameplay as the original good Crash Bandicoot games.

Simple solution, hire naughty Dog to develop the Crash bandicoot games again and bring out Crash Bandicoot 4. It would be PS3 exclusive for obvious reasons, but better that than a multiplatform game that happens to suck.

Edit: I'm already aware I may have got a few details wrong, but most of it is pretty much what happened.

Naughty Dog stopped making Crash, and decide to bless us with Jak and Daxter. While I miss Crash, I've got Jak and Daxter. And Uncharted.

Whilst I loved Crash Bandicoot he has his ass handed to him by Jak and Daxter. Jak 2-3 are two of the best platform games ever IMHO (please note that last bit)

The newest Crash games are all about combat now. Not even good combat either, crappy combat. It makes me sad.

He should accept that his glory days are behind him and settle into a comfortable retirement instead of ruining his dignity with another shite comeback.

This.

Both are incredibly more awesome than Crash.
Yea, but Jak & Daxter kind of went downhill after Jak 3, because they came up with the ridiculous idea of making Jak & Daxter a racing game...That disappointed me.

Eh, they made a racing game for Crash too. And probably will with Uncharted. They seem to just make 3 games, then a racing game on all of their stuff. That's when they dropped it.

Crash should retire while he still has some dignity. I don't want him to end up like Mario or Sonic.

Wait, did OP seriously say that the Banjo-Kazooie 2008 Xbox vehicle game was "true to the series'" roots?

I...Couldn't disagree more.

Anyway, Crash clearly needs to come back in an RTS with Space Marines, or be featured in Uncharted 3.

I heard the developers who have the rights to Crash Bandicoot now went bust and no one has bothered to pick him up again. Which is a shame because Crash is my favourite gaming series ever, well next to Spyro...

What would make it better?

What about actually dying for once, rather then releasing terrible upon terrible sequels?

Its about time he was laid to rest, he has had more than enough games and is quite clearly not what he used to be.

He needs to die. Also, Naughty Dog doesn't make Crash games anymore. You should know this already.

Mario is a multimillionaire plumber who also runs around as a rather successful physician. Once a week, he drives around in his fancy car to troll his failed rivals.

Sonic is a frequently punch drunk and drug addicted joke who can only get work in infomercials and movies on the level of those made by Seltzer And Friedberg. He is trolled by Mario. To the point of making the washed up furry cry at how far he has fallen.

Crash is a much more drunk, much more drugged up, and even poorer copy of Sonic who isn't even good enough to appear in Seltzer And Friedberg films. He is also trolled by Mario with even more tears on the furry's part and deranged laughter on the plumber's part.

That's how things are currently.

Do what nintendo does and make the same game over and over. IT works apparently
Nintendo makes it look effortless, but they have had more than a decade to hone their craft and continue to put out games that keep things fresh and exciting. They also have one of the greatest minds in gaming behind their company. Crash's problem is that he has grown stale and only succeeds in feeding the same old thing over and over again. Mario has done everything Crash has done but better. Nintendo knows how to mix it up but Naughty Dog has left Crash in a rut he just can't seem to get out of.
