I just finished "A Storm of Swords" last night and am now wondering what I should start on next. On the one hand I really want to see whats happens next in "Song of Ice & Fire" and be able to stop fearing spoilers. But on the other hand, I read the three first books right after each other, so I am kinda "throned" out.
I miss Sci-fi, which is my primary interest. And I got the first three Foundation books for christmas, which I have been eager to start on.
What do you think, "A feast for Crows" or "Foundation"?

If you haven't read anything by Iain M Banks, start with Consider Phlebas, as it's the first. And I can't say I've read either of the two you own, and if I were in your shoes I'd start with whatever the first book in the series is, but you wouldn't have said that if the books were in a series, so I say start alphabetically, just because :)

Sorry for the rambling :)

I'd go with Foundation. It's such a good series.
Have you read Asimov's other [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Asimov%27s_Robot_Series] stuff? What about Arthur C Clarke?
If you want something a bit more operatic then how about Peter F Hamilton? I've not read all of his stuff, but the Night's Dawn Trilogy is really good, and is pretty hard sci fi for space opera.

And I'm honour bond to mention Catch-22 in any literary discussion, even when utterly irrelevant, so there you go!

The Foundation trilogy is actually the only Asimov stuff I have, but it came highly recommended and I love space opera. Which is also why I have read all of Peter. F. Hamilton´s novels, except "Misspent youth", which incidently I got in the same gift as the Foundation trilogy (I love my sister) :-D

I hate stopping stories mid-stream and then starting on something new, so I'd lean towards finishing up Crows and Dragons before moving on, but you can't go wrong either way.

If you like Martin, you should really look into Joe Abercrombie. Same grey/black morality, slightly more rollicking style. Probably the best of the "dark, gritty" wave of fantasy authors that were directly inspired by Martin.
