I'm very much an outsider to these new Nintendo games. I don't get it. They're like NES zombies arising the the grave each Nintendo console generation.
What do you want from them? Nostalgia? What did they ever do to you?
I need a good argument for why we need to keep conjuring up these poor fellows. Can they not rest in peace?
Shit, I love Willow, even the damn video game but I wouldn't dare ask for anymore Willow.
No, most people who haven't played the popular Nintendo games don't seem to get it.
The argument is, is that Zelda works on so many different levels, and it CAN be used again and again because of the way they make it different each generation. It ISN'T recycling the same game over and over, each generation they make something different, even if it's only a slight difference.
And each game links together, which is probably a terrible reason, but for example Ocarina of Time and Skyward Sword are linked, as well as it linking to Wind Waker, and it also linking to Twilight Princess.
Wind Waker links to Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.
There are more connections, but they are the most basic ones, also the game structure they have set for the game just works really, really well. It could be changed, that's the whole point of this thread, but it doesn't mean it's flawed by any means.
I could go into more detail, but I won't. My point is that nostalgia has NOTHING to do with it, the fact that it's one of the greatest game franchises of all time DOES.
