So, you are in a world running on comic book logic, where there being crime everywhere means 1 thing, it is possible for people to gain superpowers. What power would you choose?

Here are the rules:

1.) 1 power, unless there is a clear connection between them like creating fire and ice(they both are controlling the temperature, obviously). If there is a less obvious connection please explain.
2.) 1 skill that is possible for a human to possess.
3.)*optional rule*Explain why you chose that combo or how you would (ab)use them.

I'd probably want
1.)superpower:(simple) flight because it seems like fun.

2.)skill mastery: archery(but I want trick arrows, ala Green Arrow)

3.)Why:I just think it would be hilarious to be able to hit someone (preferably a bad guy) with an arrow(especially the boxing glove arrow) from 100 or so feet up in the air.

edit: You cannot pick all psychic, tech, magic, etc types of power as your power.
edit number 2: You are not allowed to shapeshift into a being with more than 1 superpower and if you do, you will only look like them and possess none of their superpowers.
edit number 3: reality warping is disqualified.

1. Teleportation (not the philosophically awkward kind, simple transfer of matter from A-B)
2. Muay Thai (or Akido) mastery
3. Because phasing into some dude's house and wrecking them would be pragmatic and awesome

Power: Lighting. control, generation, and all the awesomeness that comes with it.
Skill: expert swordsmanship. Swords are awesome.
Why: Once I made a character who had this combination. I never thought of a name for him, but me and my friends once made our own comic-like universe, and this guy was my personal favorite.

Telekinesis is all I need. It is the most versatile superpower there is. And it goes way beyond moving things with your mind. Lift yourself, guess what? You're flying. Add force to your punches, put holes in plate steel, you got super-strength. Push out in all directions very, very hard-you're protected by a forcefield. Shoot bullets of raw kinetic force from your fingertips. Flip cars with a shockwave. Stop bullets in midair and sent them straight back at whoever is shooting at you. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. I don't need a special skill. I am a god.

Although, to be honest, the only thing I'd use it for is the many days I'd spend sitting on a bench near a hot dog stand, pulling the dog out of the bun every time someone goes in for the first bite.

Power: I can choose what I want to touch and what I don't want to touch, thus allowing me to phase through walls, walk on water and even walk on air.

Skill: Skilled Kendo master.

Why: Because it's a very powerful abilty, I could stop bullets by making the air solid. Also during battle, I can cause my opponent internal damage, without cutting his flesh.

I'd want the power to control electrical fields.
Basically, this power would basically enable flight and telekinesis (through electrostatic effects), and theoretically grant the ability to inflict HORRIBLE pain without any actual injuries or other damage (if I could manage to target the noziceptors directly). Also, I could short-circuit the batteries of these annoying kids' mobile phones. You know them, surely: "That phone has an EXTREME sound, just listen to all the rap music I downloaded!".

As for the amazing ability... that's difficult.
A generally superior ability to concentrate on things, I guess. Would go well with the electricity power.

The why is included above.

Power: Chronokenesis. Perfect time control. Includes my age and or experience and allowes me to pause, slow down, speed up, reverse, time. Does not allow for paradox because it moves me back to where Is should be. Screw 4d science this is a superpower. I can control who is affected and who is not so that when i freeze or slow time i am still at normal speed. slow time befor I go to sleep (the blankets would be a bit unresponsive but I could fit 12 hours into 6 or so). Retake a failed test. Made a mistake. Woomph back in time.

Skill: Incredible charisma. Chronokenesis and the ability woo the ladies what more could I want.

Power: Shapeshifting, where my possessions are tied to certain forms. So if I am carrying a torch and transform into a bird, then when I transform back into my initial human form I'd have the torch, but if I transformed into a different human, than I'd be naked unles I'd already transformed into that form and gotten dressed.
Skill: Social Awesomenss
Why: Well, I could alter my physical appearance to that of more/less/differently attractive forms, or make myself more/less imposing, etc, so combined with social awesomeness I could be the perfect person for any situation (and the shapeshifting means that should words not be enough, either a huge buff-form will be, or a bear/rhino.

Power: Invisibility
Skill: Hacking
Why: I do not feel the need to destroy the world with lazorsbeams or whatever. I would much rather destroy it from the inside out. Go to major faccilities hack into the computers and change a few numbers here and there.

I could cause mayhem all over the world and no one would ever find out who did it.

Power: Laser eyes. Pretty self explanatory.
Skill: Super running, like in Run Lola Run.
God I love that movie.

Why: I hate running, because I am slow and have little stamina. Being able to run nonstop would be awesome.
Also, who doesn't want laser eyes?

Power: full control of reality with my mind.
Skill: sliding (travelling) between alternative universes.
Why: What? You need an answer for that? Isn't it obvious? Total omniscience, total omnipotence and total omnipresence is what the above means, so that's it for the explanation part. ;)

Country
The Dreamlands
Gender
Lose 1d20 sanity points.
Easy as pie:
1.-Earth elemental control (The ability to manipulate the landscape basically).
2.-Master military tactician skill.
I think you can easily figure out why I would want that combination of Power/Skill.

Power: Immaterial/Ether Form. This is the ability to pass through any solid matter at will. It includes flying and levitation (there's a difference) and the ability to survive in any environment (including a vacuum, as long as I remain in ethereal form). (Naturally anything I was carrying on my person would also become immaterial when I do)

Skill: Quatar. Those suckers are awesome, and I would love to be proficient with them. But in reality, I'd probably choose some social skill like artistic talent, playing an instrument, or some sort of charisma.

Why?: The ability to go anywhere I want with unrestricted speed (immaterial = no resistance = possible FTL speed) without having the trip cut short by plain old teleporting... that greatly appeals to me. I'd be practically invincible, which is a nice bonus. Exotic knives are cool and proficiency with them is even more cool, if I chose to be deadly with my ability. Or, in the case of the social skill(s), I chose them because, well... just because you can't touch or be touched doesn't mean you don't want to in some way. Plus I created a character like this years ago, and this thread reminded me of him for some reason.

Power: complete control over pigmented liquids like paint, ink, blood, and chlorophyll. The exact rules would be a bit complicated, but I'd be able to control the state of matter, temperature, position, and form at an atomic level. Were this to be a character's ability in a game, it would be bat-shit overpowered.

Skill: Sword style utilizing a double reverse grip with swords made from ink.

Why: Long time idea, the entire thing would take up far, far too much space.

I'd also act like a complete fucking sociopath to entertain myself. Once again, long story.

Power: Extremely fast temporary adaptation. To anything. Any obstacle, whether physical or mental.
Skill: Engineering.
Why: Just give me enough time with a problem and I can conquer it, no matter what it is, no matter how huge or small it is. Once the problem has been taken care of, the adaptation that I grew specific to that problem will wear off. Any knowledge and memories gained through any adaptation are permanent though.

1. Time Manipulation, as there isn't much that you can't do if you can control the flow of time around you.
2. Amazing aim with ballistic weaponry
3. Because being able to control time gives host to a magnitude of other super powers. Super strength, super speed, reincarnation, and others. Plus having great skill with guns and such would be fruitful when the shit hits the fan, especially with the aforementioned time control. Kinda like the guy from Timeshift, but not nearly as stupid and uninteresting.

Power: I have heard the "which superpower is best" discussion before, and shapeshifting always seems to come out on top because it has all the others as a bonus as long as you know someone who has those powers; therefore, it was my knee-jerk response. However, I'm going to have to go with the magic/telepathy combination as implemented in the Inheritance Cycle (Eragon) because, since it's emphasized over and over again in the books that the ability is all mental, I think it might not be attainable through shapeshifting. For the uninitiated, this magic has literally no limits on versatility (you cast spells by willing your magic to activate and then describing in Elvish what you want to do; the wording doesn't matter). Infinite versatility? I could still shapeshift; it would just take a minute or two to transform. There are two rules for this magic. 1: the energy used is taken from your own body (so lifting a stone with magic tires you by exactly the same amount as lifting it by hand...actually slightly less, since with magic you don't have to also lift your arm; this also means you need to keep E=mc^2 in mind). 2: the energy required to do something increases with distance.

Ability: basically an uber-brain, specifically thinking REALLY fast and hopefully having a photographic memory. There's probably at least one person in the world who can think almost like the vampires in Twilight (they can split their concentration as many ways as they want, and have each train of thought act completely independently, and if they're focusing on only one thing, they can think about 80 times as fast as a normal person).

Reason: 1st requires a spoiler from the second and third books in Inheritance about another aspect of the magical rules.
first, we learn that you don't have to speak your spell aloud; thinking the words is enough. Later, we learn that words of any kind are unnecessary; a non-verbal willing of something to happen with the magic activated will cause it to happen. With this and the ability to think really fast, I could manipulate the world in any way I want, practically instantly. Stepped out in front of a bus? "Put me back on the sidewalk". Shot at? "Curve the bullet around me." It would take something like a tenth of a second to think these, and if I only had milliseconds, I could just picture myself in a better situation and have it take effect immediately.
2nd, telepathy + insane mental capacity = total knowledge of several people's thoughts at once, or the general trend of thoughts in a crowd. Plus I could implant thoughts and emotions without people knowing they were unnatural (*sigh* yes, just like in Inception, except I could do it in seconds/minutes). Or just talk to people with my mind, if I wanted to; the telepath chooses how the subject/victim's mind interprets what it's being sent (e.g. implant, disembodied thought or straightforward mental conversation).

*reviews* Whew, that was a doozie! I like fantasy, but I also like every bit of non-realism to follow sensible logic rules XD. Hence, the thorough defining of everything in this post.

Ah yes, one more thing:

What's a double reverse grip? Dual-wielding with a reverse grip on both swords?
