what the heck did they do to Raven's costume (and Raven in general) in the new DC 52?

I'l start off by saying that Raven of the Teen Titans is and always has been my favorite character of the DC Universe and comics in general.. and there's nothing wring with updating characters a bit, but seriously... what they did they do to Raven?

That is not what Raven looks like or acts like.. and yeah I know they updated and ruined a lot of other characters in the new 52, but come on.. why DC?.. why did you ruin such a interesting character who finally had a relationship with Beast Boy and was ready to move past so much of her awkward life.. into what ever she's become in the new 52..

I think it's perfectly in line with DCs logic. Their primary goal is to sell comics, and as Starfire and Harley Quinn show, they don't care if they ruin a character to do so.

I'd always had a passing interest in DC, and planned on jumping into a few titles to test the waters. 52 stopped that from happening.

What do the majority of people know Raven as? Her appearance in the TV Shows Teen Titans and the current Teen Titans Go!

Why they would deviate from that look and attitude, ya know the only thing that may cause a casual person such as myself to pick up a comic, is just retarded. It's like how they killed off Artemis even though she was basically the "Morph Of the Xmen" of Young Justice.

All though just reading this myself, I am sounding a lot like "They changed it so it sucks now"... That was the whole point of the reboot right? Change and a fresh history?

Yeah, pretty much, this is the same company that retconned away Aquaman's wife, even though she's still technically the queen of Atlantis in the new 52, she's just not "married" to Aquaman anymore even though they are both king and queen.

DC isn't homophobic, they apparently just have a deathly allergy to the entire concept of marriage, none of their heroes sold their marriage to the devil though, so they got one up on Spiderman at least.

The core audience is the bread and butter, they'll always show up. And you can make a run with the core audience, ECW did it for a while. Kevin Smith is doing it currently.

but the idea in all entertainment media is to get the folks with just a passing interest in the material, because that's where the big money is. That's the whole basis for these tent pole blockbuster films. It wasn't comic book fans that spent all that money seeing Avengers, it was Joe Public who said "Hey, lets go Robert Downey Jr and American Man!"

Raven was always my favorite character on the TV show and I have even read some of her Teen Titan comics from back in the day. But what... this is. This is not Raven. While Raven before wasn't devoid of sexualization, this seems to be little more appealing to the pocket-mining demographic.

Yeah, you remember how her middle age, heavy-set figure, and almost agressive unsexualization was groundbreaking in a medium where even trailblazing characters like Wonder Woman needed to have a cleavage shot or two? Remember how, of all the people they could have gotten, 'Smallville' made the PERFECT choice and went with the, not exactly youthful, but still totally badass Pam Greer!
