I have a spare computer that I built out of parts that I had lying around (plus new CPU and mobo) and am looking for some creative ways to use it. It has:

-Atom 330
-ION GPU (9400)
-2GB RAM
-DVD burner
-2 x 500GB hard drives
-1 x 100GB hard drive.

Give it away to a family member / friend / or local school who can use a computer.

Put an extra NIC in it, make a hardware firewall with pfSense.
That, or a multisever?

Sell it.

That's all I got.
More than likely what I'll end up doing.

You could use it to put back-ups of your important documents on (like tax returns or porn). Leave it unplugged otherwise. You never know when a storm is gonna fry your main PC and zap the hard drive into oblivion. Your hard drive is just a collection of magnetically aligned molecules that signify a 1 or 0 depending on the alignment, and a zap of electricity could screw it up royally.

3 things:

A) Give it to someone with limited computer experience and help them
B) Turn it into a media server for yourself and anyone else you live with
C) Experiment with Linux!

Make a literal computer desk. But place the legs so the PC still works, then get a lightweight monitor, keyboard and mouse to set on top of it. It would be quite epic, and compact.

You get a brownie for the idea. Now I just gotta find an old desktop and some wood.
