The best online experience, you'll have to wait a couple of matches to get good but thats what makes it so GREAT! Best online game, sums it up.

Well I am waiting for a few things to install through steam and one of them is Team Fortress 2 which I have been pretty excited to get my hands on for a while. So I was curious as to what exactly I am going to be putting myself through over the next few days while my eyes go bleed and my brains leak out of my ears and nose. Hmm I wonder what runny brains smell like.
i just did the same, always wanted to get it off steam but 6 bucks was a deal i couldn't pass up

so in the morning after mine is downloading i will also be joining you..

probably will be a huge noob at first but oh well im sure it'll be fun.

The best motha fucking multiplayer game ever. Seriously, balance, constant updates, (if on the right server) friendly community, and just plain good ol' fun.

First, I suggest joining this little group:

There you'll find many people who are willing to describe in detail what to expect.

Granted most are probably asleep right now...
You will probably see me in your ranks soon haha.

no team deathmatch which is a good thing.

Arena is like Counterstrikes deathmatch style stuff
Payload is get that cart accross the maps
Capture the flag is what it says on the tin
Control point is..... capture that control point by standing on it

Its a damn good game, none of this AMG REALISM crap
I am pretty excited. It has been one of those titles that I havnt been willing to front the cash for or just havnt had the money to get it but 6 bucks is pretty bloody hard to beat. I am thoroughly excited to play it though.
Some maps for you to try

Arena - Any of them really
Control Point. Badwater, Freight and Fastlane are good maps
CTF - Doublecross is almost perfect, 2fort is a horrible horrible map
Payload - Most are decent
2for isnt a horrible map, its just boring. For me at least, I use to play it so much.
But when my cousin played 2fort, he loved it. It was new.

prepare to get pissed at snipers who are just waiting on you to come around that corner...

also...

prepare to get pissed at pyros who are just waiting on you to come around that corner...

and...

prepare to get pissed at heavies+medics who invuln as soon as you nearly have the heavy dead...

while we're at it...

prepare to get pissed at your slow-ass internet connection (which you may or may not be getting by mooching off your neighbor's unprotected wi-fi).

Best mode: capture the flag.

Prepare for angry sandwiches seeking revenge.
Prepare for snipes from snipers you didn't even know existed.
Prepare to be backstabbed by the pyro (Then by the sniper, then the pyro again).
Prepare to explode into many chunky bits.
Prepare to gaze in dread at the spinning barrel of a minigun.
Prepare to hear the word 'Medic'. Over, and over, and over, and over.
Prepare to be puffed at by every pyro you see.
Prepare to push a cart of explosives across the map.
Prepare to hear heavy Austrian(?) accents telling you how well you did.
Prepare to hear a woman tell you how you failed.
Prepare to be smacked in the face by a billy club.

In conclusion, prepare for awesome.

Expect pretty much everything anyone here has said.

But also depending on your previous multilayer experiences expect a little bit of a learning curve.

Me and Sanvich are coming for you.

As other have stated be prepared for the super awesomeness that is TF2 and all its glory. Though you may encounter problems finding a good server it can take some time but there are a lot of good ones out there just avoid low pop in the begging and maybe 2fort.

Also if I see you and you get a hat before I do I will rage very hard.

Expect fun times, especially if you can join the Escapist servers, those can be a laugh when enough of us are on [sub] and it's not filled with idiot pubbers who don't understand when we want to mess around [/sub]

You'll think it's the best game ever, until eventually stuff starts seeming like you've seen it all before. But that's not until about 500 hours of playtime.

And then you'll find a hat.
And the cycle begins anew, but this time with fancy headgear atop your noggin.

tf2 is my favorite game ever, one thing i like so much about it is that people actually use tactics unlike xbox live where its just a bunch of 9 year olds calling you a noob because you killed them. it is a great game
Ill second that - TF2 on XBL is enough to make you resent it; PC is much better, but im glad its available for XBL, otherwise the 9-yearolds would find their way into this one.

In relation to the post, expect balanced comedic methodic somewhat lighthearted somewhat serious FPS gameplay.

Expect the most mind-blowing fps experience. It has awesome trailers, watch Team Fortress 2 Meet the "Spy/Pyro/Soldier/Sniper/Engineer/Heavy" if you haven't because they are HILARIOUS and also, expect good teamwork to win you games. Seriously, I underestimated this game till I got it. 76 achievements within the first 48 hours I got it (about 9 hours of game time). YOU WILL LOVE THE HELL OUT OF THIS GAME.

Buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it now.
then join the escapist's tf2 group and you'll understand why it's lasted all this time and for a different kind of game mode try prophunt and zombie fortress, hilarity ensues
