Disclaimer : I'm not the most tech savvy person ever to grace our planet, so bear with me.

So, this one's for the tech savvy escapists!

I have a neat little gaming laptop, that can run pretty much any game on mid-high setting without overheating at a rather unstable range of 25-70 fps, with rather quaint fluctuations. My specs are as follows :
Processor : Intel Core i7-2630QM 2.00GHz
RAM : 16.0 GB
Graphics card : Nvidia GeForce GTX 570M
64-bit Win7

Now, I know a laptop's innards are somewhat less customizable than a desktop, so anything I can tweak software-wise would be real helpful. I do use GameBooster (surprisingly, it has noticeable effects), TPU GPU-Z. I tried MSI afterburner, but with little success.

So, any hard/software suggestions to give my machine a boost would be much appreciated!

Well.. it is a laptop so not much can be done. You already have plenty of RAM as well.
If you absolutely want better performance you should start considering a gaming desktop.

I know the graphics card can be changed, to one compatible. There's a video tutorial how to do it.
As for the desktop, I am full aware that it is inherently better for gaming, but a desktop just isn't compatible with my lifestyle. I need my computer every day, since i regularly do gaming videos, however, I do most of my "me gaming" stuff on weekends. The problem is, I constantly travel. During weekends, I'm always all over the place, and desktops have little to no mobility, therefore, unfortunately, a laptop is the only way to go for me.

May I have a look at that tutorial? Even if it's possible, a better graphics card is probably going to be bottlenecked by your CPU and imho simply isn't worth the money and effort.
Your CPU lists a max turbo frequency of 2.9ghz. There should be an option in the bios to unlock the turbo increase.
EDIT: turns out it's enabled by default.

there you go!
Fair enough. This is a pretty ambitious project though. Provided you have the necessary technical knowledge and you can actually find a laptop graphics card that's compatible, it is probably doable. My knowledge on laptops is limited though so I don't think I can help with that.

Errr... yes and no. Depends on your laptop. Same model as the one in the vid? Cool. Any other laptop that uses a discrete GPU card? Also cool. Anything else? Not cool.

Plus, as AWAR said, the biggest issue is getting your hands on a new, compatable, laptop GPU card. If you don't know of already know of a supplier that carries them or don't speak mandarin you're going to have a hard time finding one.

In fact, my laptop is the same model as the one in the video. I specifically checked if the card in this particular model can be changed. Also, i've found a few alternatives that are compatible for this kind of change, and picked a few that I might like, but as AWAR said, they'd be bottlenecked by the CPU.
