Anyone who's been going around actively blowing up planets and/or committing government-sanctioned xenocide.
I'm looking at YOU Samus and Master Chief.

RTS's only count if it's one unit or squad that racks up all the kills.
Like how in CoH the US Rangers or the Panzer Elite Assault Grenadiers killed every infantry unit at close range.
Ordered kills don't count if it's an RTS, and it's the non-discript player character.

It seems like Halo and Prototype are strong contendors. That first goomba's a good suggestion. I still like Shepard, because genocide is an option in every game. There's Rakini, Babarians, Collecters (arguable), and Geth and/or Turian.

Master Chief probably. He wiped out all of the Flood. I wouldn't be surprised if the spore forms numbered in the billions when he activated the Halo.

Of course there's Shepard too. Considering you can cause the genocide of multiple races I think renegade Shepard probably has near MC like numbers.

luther from star ocean 3. he deleted the universe. your kill count really can't go any higher than that unless you know a character that's destroyed multiple universes or realities. >.>

Kratos basically wiped out half the population of the world by raising the ocean level when killing Poseidon. Then there's that whole Atlantis thing, and then the sending his armies out to wipe out thousands, all the gods (which should counts toward, like, a X2 multiplier), and let's not forget his mortal days when he led the most power spartan army. If not the highest, Kratos deserves an honorable mention.

You can choose to not fix the Genophage right? So probably Shep from Mass Effect. Maybe Darth Vader. He IS a character in Force Unleashed and he destroys a planet. Gotta be in the millions, if not billions.

Master of Orion 2 with a fleet of Doomstars all equipped with stellar converters. I have killed billions. seriously.
I was coming in to say that. There will be peace among the stars! Mostly because I'm destroying 2/3 of the planets in the galaxy......

For sheer awesomeness, there is Tholtig Momuzidek Lelumdoren, or "Tholtig Cryptbrain the Waning Diamonds," last queen of Circletower - an elf so badass she rose to become queen of the dwarves. 2341 kills, mostly elves. Dirty filthy tree hugging elves.

Just throwing it out there... Death, with the whole death and reaping part of his job. If you're talking as a direct result of the gameplay maybe not... if you're happy to allow his back storey to count then he's pretty much got most guys beat.

Oh, my take on this would be the Christopher 'Maverick' Blair character from Wing Commander. Not only do you rack up about 1000 destroyed ships during a playthrough of all the games you also personally deploy the "blow up the whole frikking planet" bomb that kills most of the Kilrathi inhabitants of what I think is their home planet.

Didn't read all the others, so I hope I'm not repeating, but I'm pretty sure I'm not.

Any character from a Dynasty/Samurai Warriors game. Just thought of this since I'm playing Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper on the Wii U...and I get at least 1500 kills per level. They have to at least be in the conversation.

Well, according to the manual, the Stream Riders of MDK fame grind entire planets down with their Mine Crawlers, so assuming a successful empire...they have been ending civilizations for a longass time.

Even then, I can probably top it with Deus Ex machina from Xenogears. It is a massive galactic destruction weapon system complete with core body and enhancements, a personal attack vessel, armies of mechs, and planet-shattering power. What it was doing prior to being packed up on the Eldridge is up to debate, but it was probably not good. And it didn't help that it killed nearly everyone ON the Eldridge and then proceeded to create and genocide a human-like race for about 10,000 years to generate and create enough living components to repair himself. (This last bit was done IN HIS SLEEP.)

however I killed him and took his weapon and use it on Unbaptised babies in Dante's Inferno. Oh and Lust had babies leaking from her nipples. (no joke)

It might be someone from a first-person shooter. definitely not from any of those modern ones, like Halo or Gears of War, where they give you tiny handful of enemies every once-in-a-while, or even just one at a time. It would most likely be The Doom Marine or Serious Sam, given how many enemies they obliterate all the time. Seriously, the amount of enemies you kill in those games is phenomenal.

Actually, scratch that. Mario has the highest body count.

Any character that is responsible for the destruction of realities. There kill count is measured in universes. Oddly, i can't name any character like this off the top of my head despite how obviously of a character concept it is, probably a JRPG with a character like that.
