I've been playing Mirror's Edge as of late (instead of doing homework) and I've found that I'm really interested with the soundtrack and the way it perfectly melds with the action. So that got me wondering, what game do you guys think has the best soundtrack?

Morrowind.
Hands down Morrowind.
That music almost brings me to tears.
Which is weird, because I never really got "into" the game itself.
I kept on getting killed by the first little worm thing I came across.

1. Shadow of the Colossus
2. God Hand
3. Chrono Trigger
4. Riviera: The Promised Land
5. Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
6. Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria

I can't pick any one game, but these are some good candidates. I really can't think of any games that have better music than my top three, though.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl has a very impressive soundtrack. As a Nintendo fan it would get my vote for having such an extensive compilation of my favourite songs from various games.

And if Brawl's not allowed due to almost none of the music being original, then I say Wind Waker.

Banjo Kazooie, it really got me bobbing my head and waggling my tongue to the banjo in most of the levels.
Apart from that, Halo, just love it, and i have to agree, Mirrors Edge's sound track is awesome.

I've got to say Devil May Cry 4 (or just the Devil May cry series). Not only does it not just use music that could eaily be replaced by one's own playlists (ie, made by existing bands and on their albums) but it combines environmentally appropriate gothic (not the metal subgenre, the period) music with heavy rhythm and guitar riffs that you can easily slaughter along to, which, when you find them outside of the game, have some amazingly cool lyrics.

Wind Waker, Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue, Headhunter... Bioshock has some really good ironic music too, but most of the best aspects aren't original songs.

Oh yeah, I mentioned Wind Waker, but Majora's Mask has an amazing soundtrack too. Some really creepy stuff in there, and the music that plays in the final hours before the moon hits is outstanding.

Pacman....

Okay seriously I'd say shadow of the collussus, and Metal Gear Series pumps out some really good tracks.

As for Brawl, most of it is annoying because it DOES remind you of the game. But the way they remake a few songs is awesome.

I couldn't begin to choose myself, having not played every videogame that has been recommended to me for it's music...
However The Iron Ninja has a point about Jeremy Soule (Morrowind, Secret of Evermore, Guild Wars, KOTOR... The list is LONG.) being a fantastic composer.

Zone of the Enders had a relay neat fast electronic soundtrack, taking second. Mega Man X, and Ace Combat 5 tie for third, MMX for being awesome, and Ace Combat for being such a surprise.

But the winner, which proudly stands as my favorite game of all time, lady's and gentlemen, the best thing ever created by mankind in the last 10 years ney, ever

Jet Set Radio (and its sequel) by miles. If you've played them you'll know exactly what I mean. Now those are games that are just plain fun.

Isn' it about ten hours ago there was a thread about this?

Anyway, the Silent Hill series has amazing music. Noise, industrial and ambience, coming together to form a truly haunting soundtrack.

Metal Gear Solid 3. Fantastic score that didn't intrude upon gameplay whilst still heightening tension.

Apart from the part where it belts the terrible Bond theme at you when you're climbing a ladder. Complete with annoying echo effects.
