First horror game: Wait a sec... Nah I've got nothing. I've still got to finish Penumbra, System Shock 2, Silent Hill 2-4, DOOM 3, Undying, etc. I like horror games but I can't stand playing them for too long for some reason...

Pokemon Blue here as well, I went with Squirtle. I still remember how it went down - I had a Haunter use Selfdestruct on the Rival's first Pokemon, and it didn't even knock it out. My high-level Gyarados then knocked out everything on the rival's team.

Sadly, I don't remember what the Rival's name was. I do recall my team - I had Blastoise, Pidgeot, Gyarados, Zapdos (master ball!), Clefable, and Haunter. This would have been when I was 7 years old, so apparently it really stuck with me. I played Crystal Quest before I got a Gameboy, so I wasn't used to thinking of video games as something that can be won by anybody.

One of my cousins knew how exciting it was to win Pokemon Blue, and sent me a postcard after hearing that I'd beaten the Elite Four. A Diglett postcard. #nerdnostalgia

Sonic 2... though it wasn't that big of a deal, I was just really scared of Robotnik's walker's spiky hands. Usually ran out of time because I was too afraid to just go for it. I was great at the game, but not good with handling having no rings. I was also 4.

Pokemon Blue, DOOM was the first game I ever played but it was way too scary to finish (I was like 7-8)...

I bet it was those Monkeys that scared you away from System Shock 2!

My first game beat? Oh man, that happened like, I dunno, the Spiderman game for the SNES, FFVI maybe, or SMW. Really, I'm having to remember back almost 20 years to try and remember the first game I beat. Could've been Super Metroid but I doubt it.

Jetpac on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 16 K.
Although, to say "beat" might be kind hard since it really doesn`t have an ending. I met the first wave of enemies again, and kept on playing.
After that, a whole row of C64 games before the challenge the NES-games was presented.
