Zanac or some other MSX game, but probably Zanac. I played that game to death when I was like, 4 or 5 or so. :p For some reason MSX was only ever popular in Japan and Europe so it had a lot of early games of developers like Konami and Compile. Even Kojima's first game Penguin Adventure launched on MSX(as did the first Metal Gear).

I have no idea. I think it was Combat [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E8xnaWm2Cg] for the Atari 2600, but maybe I forgot it (I was really young). The first games I actually remember playing were Venture [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10dy-JB1-70], Subroc [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0HpdUjVu-M] and Donkey Kong Jr. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uhdO-r2l_Q] for Colecovision.

I came to gaming later than most. I think my first game was Spear of Destiny. I was visiting my father's office and he had it on his computer. He fired it up for me and I played a bit of it. I actually remember that "Can I Play Daddy?" was a difficulty setting but I think I played it on a harder one. I still love the Wolfenstein series over two decades later.

Oh, wow, this is going WAY back. My memory is pretty fuzzy, since I was a little dunce back then. I was probably around five...

I THINK it was Sonic Adventure.

I vaguely remember trying to learn how to work a controller while my family gathered around the magic light box and watched me play. I vaguely remember having no idea how Pokemon worked as well (I kept trying to catch the trainer Pokemon). I actually got stuck on the first badge for like a year, until I was old enough to figure out how the mechanics worked, so that must have been one of the earliest games I played as well. Crash Bandicoot came along around that time too.

EDIT: Crash was released two years prior to the others, so I suppose it could be that one. I really can't remember.

StarTropics for the NES. It's still one of my favorite games to this day. I still get the music stuck in my head from time to time.

Man, I've been playing games before my earliest memory... here's as far back as I can remember, one of these:
-Some Adam's family game on a really old computer.
-Ghost Busters on the Master System - or really some other Master System game. Teddy Boy, Alex the Kid, Altered Beast.
-A wrestling game on the NES.

I...I want to say Mario? On the NES.

I distinctly remember those tall thick cartridges, warm slots, and a lot of blowing.

There may be some confusion here.

The first game I had was a thing with an LED screen called Astro Wars. This thing here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astro_Wars

Before I had a computer at home I played on my cousins' Commodore 64 a few times, the first one I played would be Ad Infinitum or Ghostbusters.

We had an old Macintosh which had some very simple default games on it or something like that. I think Othello was one of them. Friends had a bunch of games installed on their computer and Commander Keen was our constant favourite. Neighbours got the first MDK when it was new. I'd say one of those was the first.

Most of that age for me is a blur, so I'm not really sure on which games came first. It's probably from my Atari 2600 days, and was Karateka, but the one that I remember as being my earliest real game experience, was Starflight

Great space exploration game, and one of the few good memories I have with my older brother.

Road War 2000. Pretty sure, anyhow. Once Upon A time, a story writing program prolly don't count, and it was about the same time.
