uncharted. i hated that game, the controls were awful and sending several waves of enemies without a checkpoint in between is rather cheap. i only finisehd it because i payed for it and knew it is short.

Child of Eden, which was a great way to use my kinect after its been sitting dormant for a while, was fun and very visually and audibly impressive...

... but I still have no idea what the hell I did, but it wasn't created for its story I suppose.

I finished Bioshock the other day. I was a little bit underwhelmed by it. I started off with the difficulty on hard (no vita chambers), then gradually knocked it down to normal and then all the way to easy because I just wanted to finish the game as quickly as possible.

I realized while playing it that I don't like creepy games at all. I knew it was going to be creepy, and I thought I'd be able to handle it, but it was still too much for me. All the screaming lunatics everywhere, respawning...it just wasn't for me. I now know I shouldn't even think about getting System Shock 2.

I am not sure if that was my only problem with the game or whether it was also that the actual game play wasn't that great. It seemed like there were a lot of pretty superfluous weapons and abilities. There was a lot of room for creativity in how you approached the game but maybe not much point in ever being particularly creative. Maybe if I'd kept it on hard I would have found more need to be. Easy is basically God Mode.

So I really liked the story and setting, but overall kinda myeh.

The last game I finished was the Medal of Honor reboot. I beat it in one sitting, with the only interruption being I went out to eat dinner with some friends from college.

I liked the controls. Especially how they mapped a lean function to a controller. I liked the addition of requesting ammunition from allied NPCs. I liked the selective-fire as I tend to prefer using semi-automatic fire. The grenades felt weak. It had weak audio and visuals which provided a lack luster impact, so I had difficulty judging their effectiveness. This was a major contrast to, say, the shotgun which was especially visceral. I enjoyed the stealth and sniper portions of the game. They were really effective at creating immersion. Most of all, I enjoyed the sense of scale. One mission where I had to defend this hut at the bottom of a valley was quite amazing in this sense. Those last three things were probably the game's high point. The mechanics were solid.

Unfortunately, I was able to beat it in one sitting because the campaign was far too short. While I can remember a few names, I can't remember the men who used them. The story was rather forgettable; although, it was well grounded in a more realistic scenario. No globe-trotting anti-terror superheroes. Just soldiers in Afghanistan. The story half was quite weak.

I didn't try the multiplayer out. I've heard it's quite dead. It's not a game I would buy at full price. I may pick it up later on Steam if it's ever around $5-$10.

Bulletstorm.

The verdict?
Some of the most crazy fun I've had with an FPS in months, all kinds of ways to kill dudes and all kinds of crazy weapons and some genuienly funny lines. True, it is still let down a little by the straight faced seriousness of the plot, but to be honest all that doesn't matter when I'm swinging a guy around so that I can launch him into a cactus.

I just finished Star Wars: Republic Commando.

It could have benefitted from a little more enemy and weapon variety, and more locations instead of spending tons of time in the three locations the campaign took place. Decent use of the Star Wars licence.

Not bad, but not "great" either. Worth the few dollars I spent on it in the Steam sale.

Just rented and beat Batman Arkham Asylum. It was awesome. Loved that the combat and stealth both worked really well. And freaking out henchmen from the shadows while the Joker commentated was sweet. Plus the ending felt fulfilling which was nice.

The Night Shade said:
MGS 3: One of the best games ever created even if a lot of the concepts didn't work the history is great and the ending is the best ending in a videogame ever.
With each MSG game i've ever played i've actually been emotionally moved/touched by the games ending scene. Seriously, that's why it's my favorite game series of all time bc it's the only game to actually incite an emotional response in me (other than pure rage or disgust bc a game is pissing me off)
As for my answer- Splinter Cell: Conviction... and my first thoughts were "what's with all the hate? That game fucking rocked my socks off"

Portal 2 (i know im late, but I really managed to avoid any spoilers ^^).
I liked it, puzzle where great, though very easy and, it was too short. On the other hand, any longer and it would have started to become more repetitive.

Well, even though you don't really "finish" TF2, that's the one I've been playing most recently. So far I really like it, although I do not understand the whole hat thing. It's probably one of the best multiplayer FPS games I've played - I really like the insane number of playstyles it supports, and it's excellent at encouraging teamplay. Also, points for least obnoxious community, although admittedly the bar for that isn't very high.

Way of the Samurai 3- borrowed it from a friend a while ago, and I've been itching to play it again so I did, and my reaction was... complacency, in a word; it was nice making ANOTHER sword that had 1 single attack that basically killed anything and looked cool while doing it and had basically the Kendo equivalent of shovelware for every other move, but having completed it like, 30 times already, it was otherwise quite dull.

Pokemon Black. As for what I thought of it, well...it's Pokemon. If you like the Pokemon games like I do, you'll enjoy it. If you don't, this one probably won't change your mind. It did make me want to go back and actually beat Platinum while I wait for my new computer so I can play The Witcher.

Just beat the first Infamous game. Loved it. The way you unlocked powers was very old school and I liked that. Plus the story was one of the best ive seen in awhile. Cant wait to get my hands on number 2.

Just finished Aliens Vs Predator... the most recent one. The marine campaign was a bit bland (nowhwere near as tense as Monolith's AvP2 from 2001) but the predator and alien campaigns were interesting and different to most of what's out there. Worth a play through if you're a fan of the film series (the original Alien and Predator series, not the AvP stuff). I wouldn't pay release price for it, but I got it for $10 and was happy with that.

Just finished Heavy Rain recently. Loved it. So glad that someone in my family had a PS3 now, that and MGS4 alone make it totally worth it to me.

Red Faction: Guerilla. It has great destruction-ness, pretty fun combat (although it got in the way of destroying things too often for my liking), terrible writing (example: the final mission starts with "this is the end" "No, it's only the beginning"), and bland environment design. They had the whole of (terraformed) Mars to play with and yet all they managed to come up with was concrete shacks in dusty canyons.

Shadow Hearts: Covenant (2006, PS2)

Why oh why did I not play the Shadow Hearts games sooner? Sure, it has its idiosyncrasies as being a JRPG, but the end result was fantastic. The judgment ring and combo system kept combat interesting beyond just hitting "attack" forever. Characters were very well done with each having a distinct personality and growth. Voice acting was spotty at times, but for the most part was a benefit to the game. I initially thought I wouldn't enjoy a WW1-era setting because there wouldn't be enough freedom for creativeness, but that never was a problem.

SH:C stood out to me because it did two things that impressed me. Firstly, I didn't know who the final boss was going to be for the longest time. I seriously kept switching my guess up until the last 10% of the game. I always knew what the long-term goal was, but I never knew how it was going to throw down. Secondly, the game made me go back and reconsider what happened in the first title. Namely..

when you meet with Albert Simon (the antagonist from SH1) inside of Yuri's soul, and you find out that in SH1, Albert was actually trying to stop Rasputin/Asmodeus. Now, *you* have to go stop Asmodeus because you interrupted Albert from doing so in the first game. I found this awesome because it made you question whether what you did in the first game was right. The fact that Albert actually helps you in SH:C further illustrates the point that Albert was misguided at worst.

Are you reading this even though you haven't played Shadow Hearts? For shame! Well, for what it's worth, Asmodeus isn't the final boss of SH:C, so at least that much isn't spoiled for you

I'm in the middle of the 3rd Shadow Hearts and, while enjoyable, it's nowhere near the caliber of the first two =/
