What Was The Last Game You Were Obscenely Pumped For?

Games come and go, some have us looking forward to them because they look pretty neat, others we let slide beneath our radar because we're just not interested.

Then there's the games that strike a particular chord with you...games that have you practically salivating over the mere thought of finally getting to play them...games that you're so pumped up for that you want to run outside and literally ninja-kick the first person you see right in the face while shouting "I WANT (insert game name here) DAMNIT!!!!"

So what was the last game that you absolutely couldn't wait for? A game that made you want to invent time travel just so you could jump forward and get your hands on it?

My most recent one - and the reason I created this topic - is Arkham Knight. God DAMNIT I can't wait another month for this to come out! Thinking about the fact that there's about 4 more weeks to go makes me want to strip down and run through the streets, roaring like Godzilla and ripping out fire hydrants, before invading a farm to find and savagely maul an emu. This is in no small part due to the delays serving as a cock-tease for so incredibly long, but I have faith that Rocksteady will deliver a fantastic product and erase the memory of Arkham Origins from our mind the way Alien Isolation got rid of Colonial Marines. Honestly, the last time I was this pumped for a game was Mass Effect 3...and those of you that know me know that if there's one thing I'll fully admit to being a fanboy of it's the ME series.

Phew, thanks for hearing me out. Even if this topic flops (as I have a feeling it will :p) at least I got to vent my excitement.

Arkham Knight is a good one, I'm amazingly hyped for that game as well. Before that it was Bloodborne. And damn, that game went above and beyond my hype. :p Then again, I absolutely love Gothic/Victorian setting and I have never seen another game that have done this so incredibly well.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse and Story of Seasons for me, because I like to punch dudes and brush alpacas.

I got both, and have been enjoying them quite a bit. SoS is a pretty slow starter though, I must say.

The Witcher 3, GTA V, Mass Effect 3 and Mass Effect 2. Mass Effect 3 failed to deliver on the hype. The others were better than I'd anticipated. I'm a Mass Effect fan too. In fact, the only game that could dethrone Mass Effect 2 from being my favorite game of all time is a Mass Effect 2 remake set in a bigger world to play in with a few gameplay tweaks from Mass Effect 3.

For some reason I'm not hyped for Arkham Knight. Probably because I'm still enjoying The Witcher 3 and will for a very long time. I'm aware that Arkham Knight will be an awesome experience.

Probably Soul Calibur 5 its my favourite fighting series and at the time I was away from any non handheld gaming for 9 months so I was chomping at the bit to play this game when I got back and I loved it although you can tell it was rushed and had a small budget.

There are others I have was really looking forward to after like P4 Arena but then they went and pulled the EU doesnt get it till 9 months later because ...reasons card (no localisation was done) and I couldnt import it because lol region locked which kinda really pissed me off and dampened my enthusiasm.

I tend not to get really pumped for games much anymore even ones I really want and am looking forward to like Xenoblade X. If they announce Tifa as a playable character in the Dissidia arcade game coming out then that will be the next one I get real hype for possibly more than any game ever up until now.

Um...maybe when I found out that Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment was a thing I guess? I practically bought a Vita off the back of that game alone. Other than that right now I'm actually pretty hyped up about Hyperdimension Neptunia Rebirth 2 coming to Steam in a couple of weeks (was very disappointed to find it had been delayed).

I'm not quite sure I reach the level of hype you mean in the OP though. I don't quite get crazy hyped anymore now. I was obscenely keen to get Mass Effect 3 but ever since then I've been far more wary, that game single-handedly made me totally cynical to games previews and interviews with the developers (damn liars).

Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain.

I AM SO HYPE!

Big Boss, over 200 hours of Kojima gameplay goodness on the FOX engine, the final chapter, 200 hours of Kojima, resolutions, the fall of Big Boss, the truth behind all the conspiracies, 200 hours of Metal Gear Solid...

Just knock me out and wake me up September the 1st.

God...that was a long time ago, eh?
It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

Be thankful we got ONE good Space Marine game, brother.

Obscenely? Probably LoZ: A Link Between Worlds, because it seemed like it would be the first Zelda game with solid controls since 2006. Even then, I waited until the Black Friday right after it came out to grab the Golden 3DS XL bundle at $90 less than if I had got the game and an XL to play it on the day it came out.

I am pretty pumped for Trine 3, but not much info is out yet, other than some hints in the teaser trailer to what it will offer.

Now if Nintendo would make a new Metroid that redeems the series from Other M's reputation, I would start harvesting souls to sell on the black market in order to buy an NX, a Nu 3DS, a spare Wii U and and spare 3DS or whatever thing that is needed to run it.

I am so fucking stoked for Yooka-Laylee, actually. Knowing that old Rare employees are actually working on this thing, and thinking about the fact that the Kickstarter reached its' goal in 45 minutes because a revival of old-school platforming is something that people want to see...

Also, the Kickstarter still has 24 days left. I'm planning to donate some cash as well later.

Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker, because I really enjoyed Overclocked.
Came out May 5th, I finished it for the first time May 18th, and it was great (would've been funny if I could have finished it in 7 days). Final boss wasn't nearly as hard as Babel, but still a challenge. Now to try the Apocalpyse difficulty setting!

Now I guess it's Mighty No. 9 or the new Shantae.

Bloodborne. At one point I was seriously considering buying a PS4 just for its sake, but now the hype has cooled off a bit. Also the fact that I'll be likely spending more than a month of this summer away from home is good to temper my lust for some FromSoft punishment.

Honestly, I think that title goes towards Kingdom Hearts 3 as it uses Persona 5 and Skullgirls: 2nd Encore as my future PS4's opening act...

Other than that, anything in regards to the main Pokémon video game series... It's my Madden, per se...

I am hyped for Arkham Knight but a game that had come out that I was hyped for was Lego City for some reason. Something about an open world lego game based on real lego sets from my childhood like lego police, lego restaurants, lego fire fighters and so on really interested me. I can't say it did not have problems but it was pretty good. The 3ds version was not as good but at that time an open world game on the 3ds was more or a rarity than it is now though it still is to an extant if you don't count ports.

I can't remember the last time I was "obscenely pumped" for a game but it would've been a long time ago. Probably something like Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy or something else on the PSP. I'm too cynical and jaded to get hyped these days.

The last games I got somewhat excited about were The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and Dark Souls 2 and they ended up being my games of the year for 2014.

The last game I was crazy pumped for was Destiny, and...well that'll teach me to not get excited for anything ever. The beta was so good, the gameplay felt so amazing that it just made me completely blind to all the glaring problems the game had and led me straight into the hype machine. Then two days after it came out I had beaten it. I'm pretty sure I just lost all my ability to feel hype after that. The Witcher 3 and Bloodborne should've had me excited but they didn't, MGSV should have me really hyped, but it doesn't.

It kinda sucks to lose the ability to get excited for a release, but it's also been kind of good going into games with no real expectations, I get surprised a lot more often while playing good games, and bad games don't disappoint nearly as much.

It still doesn't even have a release date, but I haven't been able to stop salivating over No Man's Sky since I saw the first teaser.
