Mine was a homebuilt pc by a family friend. Don't know any stats sadly, except for that it ran Windows 95.

Then moved on to another homebuilt one by the same guy, this time running Windows 98.

And then onto a Dell Dimension 4600 in 2004 with a 3.06 GHZ processor with 512mb RAM. Of which I still have, but now with 1.5gb of RAM. And a 512mb graphics card, runs anything I've ever tried on it like Spore, the latest Hitman and such other new titles. Also sports Windows Vista Ultimate.

I then purchased an iMac G4 running tiger (for £90!) to have in my room for basic web browsing and using it for iTunes. It has a 700MHZ processor and 512mb of ram. Also wields a 32mb graphics card.

And recently I purchased a Advent 5431 laptop. With 1 (now 2)gb of ram, a 2GHZ Dual core processor running Windows Vista Home Premium. It blows away all my other computers added together :p

What's your computer history?

Erm... AFAIK it was a computer ditched by my dad's work.

Gateway 2000
RAM: 512 or 256mb
ran windows 95.

since then, I've never really had a "new" computer, I've upgraded everything twice (the speakers are the only things from the old workstation still in use. Oh, and the keyboard), but I have never completely replaced it. Recently I gutted my old case, put entirely new parts in and set it back up. Gives it another 5 years, so it's all good.

My first was a Time brand windows 98: it had a 256mhz CPU, onboard graphics, a trackball mouse, a 640x480 CRT monitor, and you had to turn off all non-essential processes in the task manager to stop it from crashing every five fucking minutes.

What was the first pc i ever had? Apart from slow? It was many years ago and if i remember correctly it had something silly like 16mb ram and a hardrive that had more in common with a postage stamp than a computer part. If i remember correctly it was running windows 3.1. Blimey, that must of been a while back...

It was a beige IBM, and ran Windows 95. I don't remember all that much more about it, except for the fun times I had playing the original Command & Conquer over the internet.

I was too young to understand specifications but I remember it had a voodoo graphics card and was custom built. It ran pirated old NES, Commadore 64, etc... games on something called GAMEDECK. I miss that >.<

The second was a Intel Pentium II at 1.6Ghz I think. Intergrated graphics chip and 512mb of RAM.

The latest desktop is a Intel Pentium 4 2.8Ghz, 768mb of RAM, an AGP graphics card that fails.

I'm using a laptop ^_^

The family computer ran windows 95 from memory, and it played things like Commander Keen 4 and Wolfenstien 3d, and I remember mum had some kick-ass security thing setup so we couldn't play Doom or Street Fighter 2 without her help, man that was a long time ago...

The first computer I owned myself though was a little original Macbook I brought off my brother for $150, lasted me three years before it died, and I now have a laptop (no idea about the specs, I just know it runs well) but I'm missing my Mac.

Ugh, shady memory there. My family got it when I was a wee kid and personal computers were new and exciting. It was a "bribe" for my father from some company or other, since he was the head of electricity in a major mining site, so it was pretty badass at the time anyway. If memory serves, it had an intel 80486 processor, maybe... 50-75mhz? And I know it ran on windows 3.1... I was too young to really catch on with the rest of the setup, though. Might just as easily have been an 80286 processor, though, but I think that's a bit too early. I know we had an 80486 computer at one time, and if it wasn't this one, then it was the next one.

Anyway, although it was "my" first, it wasn't my oldest. I am the proud (sole) owner of an ABC 80 [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABC_80]! It's awesome. Its harddrive is a casette tape. It doesn't have anything on it, though, since I accidentally put it down next to a flashlight with a magnet once. I remember you could play yahtzee on it while it still had a harddrive... We actually have like 3 more of those in our family. Another perk of my father having connections at the mining facility.

Ah, good times.

My first PC was a Packard Bell 486 DX2 with 4mb of RAM, and the game that I bought with it was none other than Star Trek The Next Generation: A Final Unity. As far as I remember I actually had to go back to PC World and spend £40 on another 4mb of RAM to be able to play it...

I miss Heretic.

I had an old 486. It could run Asteroids and Centipede.

This was when the 486 was new though so it was totally pimptacular at the time.
