Do you really mean MP quotes in general... or just Holy Grail quotes? That's what I got a problem with.

Agreed I have heard people only quote the Holy Grail. My guess is because it was either the only Monty Python they have seen, or because it has been referenced so much when compared to the other sketches.

I watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail in an old Turn-of-the-Century Theater in college. What an experience that was!

Thats about how I feel about Dane Cook. except replace "quotes" with misquotes

EDIT: oh, and on topic.. I have the whole flying circus collection and havent watched more than 3 of the 14 dvds. probably cause i was like 14 at the time and decided to just skim through for breasts instead :/

Either the 'How to defend yourself from a fruit-wielding maniac' sketch or the one about how mollusks are perverts.

I really love the "Christmas in Heaven" number at the end of The Meaning of Life. Plus the part with the Brits, Americans, and Death before that.

I don't remember watching my first Monty Python sketch. In fact, despite watching Flying Circus religiously when I was 4 and 5 years old, I don't remember a single sketch at all. But I do remember a couple of scenes from the first time I watched Holy Grail (when I was 5 years old), namely loving the Mexican-themed opening credits and laughing at the Frenchman.

My favourite bit in all of the sketches that I've seen and remember would be the discussion of swallows and coconuts from Holy Grail.

Man: Inspector, Inspector!
Officer: Yes, sir?
Man: I was sitting on a park bench just now and I put my coat down and when I picked it up again I found my wallet had gone and ₤15 had been stolen.
Officer: Did you see anyone?
Man: (earnestly) No, no-one at all.
Officer: Well, there?s very little we can do about that, sir.
Man: Oh? (awkward pause) D?you want to come back to my place?
The officer?s head snaps up, his expression carefully blank- he is clearly thinking hard. There is another extremely long, awkward silence wherein the two markedly avoid each other?s eyes.
Officer: Yeah, alright.

Just too funny for words!

Spanish Inquisition. After I found a copy of Monty Python and the Holy Grail DVD, my father pointed out that Monty Python and the Flying Circus was on PBS. I turn it on and it just happens to be the Spanish Inquisition episode and those three skits were hilarious.
