Spending hours coming up with a name for a character.

Seriously, it feels like a habit now given how much time I have spent in a character creation screen just staring waiting for a name to come to me.

I also have a habit in games to get halfway though it, feel weirded out by one aspect of the character( his eyes are too bright!), then then delete that character to make a new one. Much time has been wasted doing things like that. XD

I don't know if it's weird, but whenever I make a character in a game I always, and I mean always, make them look like myself or as close as possible. I rarely ever play a female character unless it's the only option. I think it has to do with immersion in a game. By making a character look like myself it's almost like I'm in the game. And if I can't make the character look like myself, then a guy is the obvious choice over the girl.

Just thought of another weird habit i have . I must have several save files . I will always alternate where i save ( 1 -2 - 3 , 1 -2 -3 ). Also i always save twice , just to make sure it saved correctly . I'm kinda paranoid when it comes to my saves . I absolutely hate games with autosave only ( except Dark souls because that makes sense , but it makes me nervous as hell).

In games where you can choose how a character responds to things, I can practically never choose the "evil" option. To this day, I've still never finished a full Renegade play-through of the Mass Effect trilogy.
Same here, I've tried many times to play an asshole only to stop and go back to my neutral and goodie two shoes characters pretty quickly. I just can't handle pretend hurting the feelings of pretend people, apparently.

When playing MMORPG's I usually avoid pointing out my gender unless I'm in a situation where it's unavoidable and I don't bat an eye to people refering to or adressing me as a guy (it's more obvious in my language). It's mostly because the attention you get afterwards is annoying and I don't expect every random person to be psychic. Though to be fair, usually what you get from most guys is just cheeky teasing that blows over soon enough and I persist simply bacause I see no point in parading irrelevant information around.
I also have serious altitis and hoarding problems when it comes to these kinds of games.
When I can I must micromanage everything, that's why Dwarf Fortress is the most mind blowing thing I've ever had the luck of stumbling into.

If there is a fork in the road, or more than one path leading to the same place, I always go left first, then backtrack and look if I missed something on the right side.

I will never wear a helmet, for any reason if the game allows it.

Also I don't like playing in a chair of any sort, I like to lay down if I can with my keyboard on my lap.

I guess those are the weirder ones I have.

Mine's pretty weird. I cannot be the bad guy on purpose. Games like Mass Effect, Fable, Dragon Age... Any game with any sort of moral choices and I will always default to the Paragon/Good/Nicer options (Even if that pisses Morrigan off to no end). I once tried to play Fable 1 as the bad guy. I got very bored.
I guess that means the developers have done their jobs? If i care about the world and how I affect it?

I also do this. It just pulls me right out of the experience. Especially in games like Mass Effect where the helmets are full face ones.

In fallout new vegas I had the weird habit of hoarding at least one specimen of every weapon and every piece of armor and enough ammo of every type to at least fill ten mags of any weapon I would want to use in any configuration I see fit. In the end I'd only use a handful of those weapons but it was a joy collecting all those guns.
I also limmited myself to using only: one melee weapon like a knife, one small gun like a pistol, one rifle sized weapon and a small explosive weapon + C4 because you can never leave the house without.
I really loved playing new vegas as a survivalist-grunt. :D

I used to agonize over naming characters, but I have a new procedure. I come up with the dumbest, laziest names I can, as fast as I can, especially in an MMO. I've had characters like "Enternama", "Eldritchanna", "Joe Blastrman", and "Prisonero". Yes, my first character in Skyrim was "Prisonero".

Whenever I play a big, open-world game, or one that generates a world, like Minecraft, I start a new game almost every time.

Just came to think about something. Is extreme min/maxing considered weird?
To wich extent do people do this?

After my WoW period I just cannot play a game without trying to calculate everything I see to max its potential dps or whatever.
This is a problem when I play games that does not have numbers, and instead says things like "does a lot of damage".

Choose your character.....

I'm always gonna go female, and if I can't go female I threaten the game with physical violence!

Compulsive reloading, compulsive door-closing, etc.

Spending too long naming a character- it has to be perfect. Not too crazy, not too vanilla.

Same here, but I still play stuff on ironman mode.

Whenever I'm provided the awesomeness of a character creation mode, I always make a 40 year old, bald, black guy character.
Always.
