In my opinion, Supreme Commander has been a wonderful game. It's variety, gameplay mechanics and new tecnoledge turned it into a hit in many different countries.

Both the original game and the Forged Alliance Expansion were objects of my attention and fate that Gas Powered games would continue to make this series triumph.

But then SupCom 2 arrived, supported by Square Enix, screwing up the whole thing.

What's this emo broken bonds with friends between the factions they call a story.

And the factions are all wrong! What happened to the Cybran for them to start using organic units... the Kraken?!?

From what I saw, it was boring. What happened to all that sexy action, epic battles and such? Why can I not recognize any unit from the previous game?

I think Square Enix should have never touched the game.

They made it all look cartoonish and replaced the plot with a soap opera.

I myself am pretty angry at the whole game right now.

What are your thoughts on this topic, fellow Escapists? Am I overreacting? Does the game have a hidden potencial?

I never do campaigns in RTSs, mostly because I don't want to have to pretend to give a shit about the millions of people who I'm sending to certain death. The gameplay is my main problem. It was streamlined beautifully. If they had just done the UI, the research, and the really interesting maps (the desert cavern? BRILLIANT.). Unfortunatly, they then messed up the economy, and simplified the buildings into oblivion. That's where my problem lies. I still play it every so often, but only when I'm playing with someone who wants to RTS but doesn't know shit about RTS.

Yeah, the economy and the build UI were simplified a lot. Didn't like that.

The areas are pretty but they'd be better with the SupCom1 structures, units and micromanagement.
