What would be the most absurd 'gritty reboot' imaginable?

I'd have to say one for Minecraft where every texture is some shade of gray, the main character now monologues to him/herself in a voice like they just ate an entire gravel pit, and slicing up zombies and creepers produces graphic showers of blood and dismemberment.

So, your candidates? Providing details on it is always a plus!

Pokemon

You're already capturing wild animals and forcing them to fight eachother, the change to gritty hyperviolence would only be a stylistic one.

The Teletubbies.

Why is a pregnant Lala chainsmoking next to a doped up Tinky Winky? And what the hell is Po watching on a one-eyed Dipsy's stomach television?

The Dark Knight.

See, it's absurd because it's already gritty.

The worst possible gritty reboot is already happening.

Devil May Cry.

Then again, Kingdom Hearts would be pretty ridiculous too.

Although I liked the Sesame Street idea put worth above me, I would say that my candidate would have to be Crash Bandicoot.

Partly because I think it's one that just might work in some insane scriptwriter's head, and partly beause one of the tenets I've noticed in a lot of 'gritty' reboots is trying to justofy how the circumstances can even exist. Like explaining exactly how the mutations of Spider Man or the X-Men work or how Batman can really fight crime, honest!

How do you explain the world of Crash Bandicoot Hollywood? Huh?

Barney?
Wait that was done already wasn't it?

Um...my brother says Sonic the Hedgehog and Bomberman. I'll go with that.

40K.

It would simply fold in on itself from the concentration of grimdark.
