Make sure the players don't have a boat, or ironically, start the battle out with Cthuhlu destroying one such boat. Though, that is a perfectly legitimate point, and doesn't seem exactly right since Cthuhlu is a FREAKEN COSMIC ENTITY!

This is probably about as massive a boss could be without losing all sense of scale(if it isn't already too late).

OT: Take the Archdemon from Dragon Age: Origins, combine it with an Omegalisk from StarCraft 2, and let Harbinger from ME2...ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL!

I might be wrong but I don't believe a sentient evil planet has ever been a boss. Put it in a space combat game where the entire thing is full of turrets of varying sizes and fighter-spawners. The fight would be long enough to require a mid-way save but you would eventually destroy enough crucial systems to force it to open up the outer shell, at which point you fly in to deliver the coup de grace.

Doesn't even have to be a space combat game. Long ago when Kingdom Hearts was new someone spoiled Ansem's final form to me but I actually envisioned it as an entire living world of Giygas-esque darkness trying to kill you, not a large living battleship. Maybe that would be a bit too scary for Kingdom Hearts.

Did anyone else think the weird grabby thing you fight as a mini boss was cooler than the actual boss?
No seriously i think the best bossfights are the ones where they can't kill you in one hit (taboo you suck) and have multiple stages.
