What would happen if CoD4 never took off?

And games like Halo3 soared in popularity? Would we be doomed? Would we adapt? Or would we just not care? After CoD4's non-existent flop, would there be a cult fanbase? Would Activision revert back to their overplayed WWII games and lose fans? WHAT WOULD HAPPEN?! What are you opinions?

Well besides the fact Halo 3 did and still does "soar" in popularity, I don't think anything would have changed.

If CoD 4 never existed, a great many people would have enjoyed not wasting so much time on it.

If it wasn't for the halo 3 reaping more popularity I would've said it would be the start of the apocalypse and the entire would be destroyed within a matter of months.

Fortunately I approve of Halo 3 and it's kin becoming more popular, so I have to say that the world would become a paradise where people wouldn't have to worry about their health or their ability for cognitive functions that don't relate to murder or teabagging. No one would every die because world hunger would be solved somehow and no more wars would ever be fought because everyone could just take their anger out on the Covenant and not representations of the nations or groups they hate for whatever reasons.

I did like CoD 4 a lot. I want to make it infinitely clear that I am not complaining about it. It was a damn good game.

I'd say that we'd be missing-out on some good internet jokes, but I don't think I've ever really seen much in the ways of MW2 memes. So I guess the only difference is that people would be playing something else. Despite all the hype the game gets, the Modern Warfare series hasn't really done much to change the face of gaming.

i'd give up WaW if it meant that the world would not have been blighted with cod4 and MW2 tho.
