Okay so someone suggested I do this and I want to know what would happen before I even think of doing it, would I lose anything (other then maps) if I deleted my main TF 2 file from my Steamapps folder and then reinstalled it? Would I lose hats or anything?

If you're basically saying that you're reinstalling TF2, you would lose nothing other than custom files that the game does not come with. You keep your hats, your loadout, your achievements, and all those other fun things.

Okay but I mean not deleting local content from the Steam library itself but from the actual Steam folder

EDIT: Welcome to The Escapist

I started completely over on a new computer which had absolutely no trace of Steam on it at all, and I had all my hats and things when I downloaded Steam and installed TF2. You should be safe unless Gaben decides to fuck with you more than usual. And thank you, glad to be here.

It will PROBABLY not lose anything, but why risk it?

No, kill cam and screen shots you would lose. So you might want to find those and move 'em.
