If you were given the chance to completely kill off either game-based movies or movie-based games, what would you choose? I personally would kill off movie-based games because I find them worse the vice-versa.

Honestly? I'd tax the hell out of both, and distribute that money back to the customers unless a government-backed agency gives either a 4/5 star critique.

This allows for interesting corruption, and consequently more interesting movie possibilities.

I agree. Plus I enjoy Uwe Boll's films and I want him to have something to do.

Neither really, They both have their place.

I would say that even in light of some of the horrid gems of the past like super mario bros and street fighter, on average game based movies have been able to come away with a few decent ones like the Resident evil series, or hell, even the first Tomb raider film was alright. Generally there are fewer examples of movie based games that turn out well at all.

Agreed. I must admit, I did enjoy the Prince of Persia movie, though that may have been because everyone was rather pretty and in non-modern clothing.

Hey, Spider Man 2 was fun, and I'm sure there has been one good game based movie.

I wouldn't kill off either. Sure, often they work out badly, but sometimes you actually get good results. Silent Hill for instance, while the movie may not be that faithful to the games, it had a lot of depth to it and a legitimate point to make about the Judeo-Christian faith. Sure, a lot of people didn't like it, but I like it when a movie has something to say.

And while I'm too drunk right now to think of a movie game that worked out well, I'm sure it's happened before, and even if it hasn't, I'm not willing to give up on the hope that some day there might be an awesome movie based game.

I don't know if I'd get rid of either. Frankly, if they suck then I won't watch or play them and no harm done to my wallet... or my eyes.

I wouldn't get rid of either of them. I mean, even if we accept the premise that I would find ALL movie games/game movies unenjoyable, that hardly gives me the right to make that decision for everyone else on Earth.

And besides, it's not like a GOOD game movie/movie game is impossible, just because it(subjectively) hasn't happened yet. I never really understood the logic of "If I don't like it, it deserves to be destroyed." Kind of a Nazi paradigm, actually.

Hey! Look at that. Godwin's Law in action.

I would kill game based movies. Movie based games do have poteintial they can be good but they're usually bad because they don't have enough time to work on the game and they aren't allowed to change anything nor are they allowed to give anything away.
I would kill game based movies because it's extreamly hard to entertain some one with a non interactive medium that is based off an interactive medium. Plus a standered movie is only 1 and a half hours so a how can you make somthing thats 10 hours into somthing thats 2. You could just show somthing resembling all the cutscenes into one thing but a all most of the apeal of games is inbetween cutscenes. Maybe it's because i'm a gamer but movies bore me. They take a book or game or real story and cut it into a quater leaving out some of the best moments behind. Take hitchiker's guide to the galaxy it's an awesome book i've read it 4 times now but the movie just sucks. They take a lot of the funniest parts of the book and they re-arrange the story it's completely retarted.
