For anyone who's seen Fight Club, you know Tyler Durden hated the materialism in society, but course, Fight Club came out in 1999 and the world has become FAR MORE materialistic.

So what do think Mr Durden would do in the modern world?

I think he would do what he did in movie but also target social media and the NSA.

I think he would hate the world even more consider the rise of celebrity worship, horrific reality TV shows and the complete greed of political leaders and the wealthy. We definitely need a Tyler Durden in todays' age.

I didn't want to spoil Fight Club for anyone, a beside "Tyler Durden" still organized all the "chaos" in the movie.

I think there'd be more of a focus on how people use social networks and the internet as a substitute for actually talking to friends and doing stuff with them. So maybe a disdain for smartphones, otherwise pretty much the same.

He'd definitely hate the banks more than in 1999 as well.

No matter the Difference in time he would likely hate the worlds state due to He himself being a true anarchist.

As everyone pointed out, he would pretty much do the same thing althought I would think he would end up getting caught and imprision for doing so in the process.

1999 was what, fourteen years ago?

It's not that much of a difference of ten years to completely rewrite worldwide culture. The same now, the same for another few years, and the same for many years after that.

A lot really has changed in the last 14 years. The massive rise in social media and all its implications. Worldwide economic meltdown. President Bush. I think Durden would have had more support and more targets.

Uhm, it's honestly pretty much the same. By the way, wasn't the point of Tyler Durden that he was, well, made up?

I think you need to get out more.
How the hell was he "made up" ? Tyler was literally born from his hatred of materialism as another personality within the narrator. He did things, he orchestrated events, etc. Unless you're trying to make a joke about how he's a fictional character, I am very confused.

The point is that the Narrator is Tyler Durden

Tyler Durden exists.
Tyler Durden as a person separate from the Narrator does not.

Pretty much this. As long as civilization exists past the "hunter-gatherer" state, he would do the same thing.
