Imagine you're faced with a scenario where an impending disaster or massacre is approaching, and you're the only one that can stop it happening.

You know exactly what to do, you're guaranteed to succeed and save the day - but you WILL die.

What would be threatened that you would be motivated to die to protect?

For me, it's my country - New Zealand. This place is just wonderful, and I'd hate to see anything destroy it. I'm certainly not a patriot, but if I can die to save it, I would.

Anything more important than my petty self- that being basically anything that's living and sentient.

First off the obvious answer of my family and friends, but for a complete stranger I am not sure if I would or not. I would like to think I would do it, but I know I would be hesitant. However if there we two or more people in danger I definitely would no matter what.

If the person looked at me and asked me to save them, even if it would kill me, I think I would feel obligated to save them. If they had asked me for help and I could help them, but didn't and they died because of it, I would feel terrible.

I'd die for Canada, sure, why not? We have nice mountains and millions of citizens I don't see why Dying for it would be a bad thing.

Innocent people, if a total stranger was about to be shot, I would jump in front of them or do whatever I could to stop it from happening...

Some might call that bravery or kindness but in my opinion that's just the right thing to do.

Human rights, freedom, to be the better person, to save another person, to prevent human suffering, and to protect the people I love. There are a lot of things I would die for without hesitation.

More lives.

Edit: Since I have to have more than 2 words I will add pointless stuff you will probably skip reading.

Yeah I don't do the sacrifice kind of thing. I will dedicate my life to saving people if it will be effective but yeah...

God, Country, loved ones, Bungie Studios.

I think that sums it up.
Don't die for God, he's immortal. You'll go to heaven and He'll be like "You didn't have to do that, you know.". Also why the hell would you die for Bungie? Sure they're a great developer, but what about VALVe?

A Klondike Bar

The advancement of the human race. Ideas that seem important. More than one person.

Those are the only things that equate a necessity for ones demise.

Hello there, brother from another mother across the ditch, I'm going to steal your answer (but make it Australia).

OT: My country, my closest friends, a group of innocent people. Basically, if my life can save more lives than I consider mine to be worth (whether it be through weight of numbers or because I consider the individual to be a better person than me) and I'm guaranteed success, then I'd like to think I could do it (I've never been in that situation, so this is more "What I hope I would die for")

Mine is Michael Patterson.
But it would be perfectly logical for me to die for my country too, not only would i willingly do it, but I would be remembered for it too :)

I'd die to prevent the demise of freedom of speach and the consequent decent of the modern world back into the dark ages.

Lots of things.

I value my life, but there are many things that hold a higher value than it - with or without my endorsement.

A personal appeal to me from a loli goddess (like Artemis) or proof of Valhalla. If I learned that death in combat would grant me passage to Odin's court, you bet your sweet ass I'd sacrifice myself.
Artemis... a "loli goddess"...

Prepare to be disappointed...

OT: Hmm... There is actually quite alot I would be willing to die for, come to think of it. Family, Friends, Freedom(s)... Revenge... Dr. Pepper...

The indefinite renewal of Firefly...

Also, Valhalla sounds nice...
