What Would You Do If You Saw A Ghost?

I'd struggle with reconciling what my senses are showing me with what I know is possible. Then I'd be kinda tweeked and shaky for a while. But I wouldn't classify it as a "Ghost." I've seen some stuff that people might call Ghosts. I call it "Weird shit," because sometimes shit gets weird, but I don't think that dead guys are hangin' around in the material world.

As it didn't seem to be there to haunt me as it was minding it's own business I'd say it was a benevolent ghost and let it be. It would give me hope for some kind of afterlife.

My reaction would be to go through every check I can think of to prove what I saw was a conventional "illusion", a sign of looming mental illness, or an intentional prank by a third party. As ghost don't fucking exist.

Feel free to disagree with me if it makes you a happier person, but from all the terrible shit I've seen in my lifetime I've come to the personal conclusion that "God" and the "afterlife" are nothing more but self serving mindcandy for those that can't deal with cold hard reality.

Oh hey, OP, what of "you" found out that after you die your consciousness ceases to exist and your body just rots. How do you feel about that?

Observe. Question senses. Photograph if possible. Look for evidence to counteract observations. Observe some more.

Depends a little on the ghost in question. If it seems to be a mindless echo of some past event, unaware of me, I'm staying to watch. If it's the kid from Ju-On, crawling at me across the ceiling, I'm high-tailing it out of there.

I don't believe in souls, life energy, or the supernatural. There are things we don't understand but I'm reasonably certain we are nothing but meat. Complex, unique, self-aware meat is still just meat.

Find an object of silver and attempt to beat the ghost to death. The elder scrolls taught me that ought to work.

Though it does warrant stopping and thinking about. Would another noble metal (copper or gold for example) suffice to strike a ghost? I mean, a golden sword isn't much good for anything but I kinda wonder if it would work. Same goes for Werewolves to be honest - I mean all the things about silver that make it staple weapon in fiction as a way to kill a monster goes for gold.

I have "seen" ghosts on multiple occasions when I was a boy- aged around 10-13. However I believe they were all visual hallucinations because I was going through multiple spells of insomnia combined with having a brain going through puberty and a fascination in ghosts.

My reaction when I saw a ghost? I once ran out of the room in fright, counted to ten, convinced myself it was an illusion and tentatively went back into my empty room. If I am honest, I'd probably do the same thing if it happened again! I would certainly be too surprised to take photographs.

Probably going to get a bunch of crap over this but I have seen a ghost several times. One time I had an actually physical interaction with one to the point that I touched something they had on them. Second and third times were seeing figures sitting at the kitchen table in my Grandparents house and seeing a dark figure in the mirror while everyone in the house was in another room talking. My sister hears things there all the time and has had doors locked and then unlocked later on to the point that she has called the police thinking someone was in the house. Her cat also reacts strangely there and will play with things that aren't visible under doors. My son when he was 2 years old lost it in the bath there screaming that someone was in the bathroom with him and I. He had never done that before or again and was absolutely terrified to the point of hyperventilating, shaking and crying uncontrollably. He went from happily playing with me and his toys to total terror in less than a second once he looked at something at the end of the bath tub he was in. Believe me or not if you wish but to think that there isn't any possibility that spirits or whatever don't exist is pretty arrogant considering how much we don't know about our existence.

*ahem* Was the ghost "single" when they died, per chance?

...I'll see myself out, thank you... (There's no law against dating the paranormal, by the way...)
No wait, come back!
There is nothing wrong with that!!!

OP: Well, this all depends.
I will want to see if they are the good kind of ghost or the bad kind of ghost.
If it is the bad kind of ghost (Demented appearance/Evil actions/May want to kill you) I will book it out there, call my friends or family about this ... and if it comes to it, call a Priest.

Basically, kill it/MAKE it pass on.

If it is the good kind of ghost that means no hard and just wants to hang around, I'll have no problem with that.
But then you may ask, what happens if it is the opposite gender and is single/cute.
You might have to look at him/her and ask their proper age. They might be ten and look ten, or they might look ten and be 100.

... you know what? I have no idea what I was talking about.
I doubt you could date a ghost without being really awkward when going out.

Well, to be "fair", it would be the ghost's fault for insisting on making it awkward...

"Why are you still calm about this whole situation?"
Well, I treat my ghost dates just like any other date...
"But, people are staring at us..."
So? They're probably just jealous of your beauty...

(It would be a great night... before the father ghost tries to "scare me off" or something like that...)

Figure it is probably time I actually got some sleep because I'm at the point where I'm hallucinating. Assuming I didn't have heart attack upon seeing it or panic my neighbors by screaming like a pansy of course.

Run to the kitchen, pick some salt and some barbeque stick made of iron and go hunt the damn thing!
Then after weakening it, I find out who it is and burn their remains.
I ain't callin' no one, I got this covered!

Why yes, I do watch Supernatural.
You're on page 3, didn't see a single Supernatural answer on page 1 and didn't look through page 2, was utterly dissapointed. Luckily I scrolled up after posting my own answer :D
