If I owned a country?
I'd make the country's government let me join them and attaempt to make it a better place.

Hmm, well. I guess I get any country I wish? I would probably take China and make it what I wish or maybe Russia.
Do you think the world would allow me to have a dictatorship if i'm a nice dictator?
Also I will make a list of names I like for my country and send it out to all my citizens to choose and even give suggestions. Same with the National Anthem.
I will make sure they all know how to react if our country is invaded(ninja techniques and such)

I would set a certain time of day where everyone had to jump rope for 20 minutes lest they be caned.... by me personally, and then made to jump rope for 40 minutes for time lost. I wouldn't be gentle either.

Well, if we've learned anything from the game "Risk", China is the country to have. Once in power i would get the scientists working on Battle-mech suits. Why? Why not?
If I owned America I would use its resources for a descent space program and in 50 or so years maybe we will actually colonize Mars
If I own say, Australia, I'd re-instate the north coast branch line, immediately introduce an R18+ rating for games and exile Michel Atkinson to the wastes of green land where he must stay for the rest of his days and never under pain of being forced to play EVERY single video game he was responsible for banning. And If I owned the US I'd carve out the entire interior and fire into the sun.
I would rename the country something like Helvetica or some other type of font and then devote all resources to getting into space, so I could change the orbit of the moon, for the fun of it

Well, first I would find someone really charismatic to be a figurehead for me. Then I would systematically organize a stable secular nation. Private practice of religion would be permitted, but no religious group would be allowed to petition the government for special considerations. Private business would be allowed, but a failure to abide by fundamental guidelines to protect consumers from fraudulent activities would be met with public lashings. Politicians are not allowed... sorry. Governance and politics are two different things. Still not sure how I would work that out, but I might work under a mentor/apprentice framework. Every governor would have someone working under them whom they would appoint as their successor upon leaving power.
Basic tenents of my nation would include the recognition of a nation being a body of people, not a body of voices. Here, whoever can scream the loudest, and have the most indignation has the most voice, and this influence. My country would create a system to provide for the health needs of every citizen, every city would have a job-center to assist the unemployed to find suitable work, and the homeless would have clean and safe shelters where they could sleep and store their possessions for the night (mind you they would have to surrender some liberties for that service, but it is better than the cold.)

If ruled Andorra, I would insult every mutha'uckin leader of the world and their people so that we have world war 3: everyone vs andorra.

Once they realise that actually I'm not doing that bad a job, the era of media asswipery and pointless satire will end.
