Eh, this thread is going to make an excellent demonstration of my social state isn't it? Anyway, this scenario pops up every now and then in dreams I have (very low instance mind, if it was more often I would be worried) it goes something like this:

In a completely mundane setting like MacDonald's or whatever, every table has (somehow) been taken save one opposite a girl (or whatever more power to you if it's something else, I'm just going off what I know. Also no I don't have anything more descriptive beyond that, dreams and details do not go hand in hand.). Whatever the circumstances you take the empty chair and exchange words. Suddenly, through a series of events that I suppose could be called an impromptu date, you gather your thoughts enough to realize that this person you have only just met has managed to drag you around half of the locale (where ever it is) and you can only ask "what the fuck just happened?"

Yes, it is outlandish, but lets put that aside and transplant this into real life to ask, "what would you do?"

Notes: Yes much of this needs you guys to fill in the blanks because hazy details and no ability to put my thoughts down to save my life kinda hold me back here.

What do you mean what would I do?
Now that I've already for some reason sat down, gotten to know a girl, and gone on a date, isn't the most logical thing to do is continue the "date"?

What else is there to do? Call her a witch for causing all this and leave?

We'd continue the date, maybe go to a nice park or something. After we get there, we'll notice that we're the only ones there, we have a lovely moment all to ourselves. She'd wrap her arms around me, look me in the eyes demurely, part her lips and say "I need about tree-fitty". At about this time I'd notice that this girl is actually a giant crustacean from the Paleolithic Era. Damn it, monster, I'm not givin' you no tree-fitty!

Let it carry on I guess? I would also end it with asking her for her phone number to keep in touch.

Either way, I would have to experience it myself in the moment to give a proper answer to this thread.

Just ignore dreams. It's just a byproduct of your brain's maintenance program during the REM phases. You have way more dreams than you can remember, so your brain understands that there's no value in keeping that nonsense. You only tend to remember a dream when you wake up in a REM phase (the longest one, close to the morning) and even then for example I almost immediately forget what it was about within a minute.
Oh and "lucid dreaming"... that's pretty close to what one might require of a definition of "mental masturbation".

I'd explain to her very nicely that I had a lovely time (I didn't since she took me to McDonalds, but i'm diplomatic like that) but my wife is insanely jealous and would probably... Then my wife bursts in and starts shooting up the joint and I wake up.
Even in my dreams I've a guilty conscience.

I snap my fingers, and she blinks. Candles drop from the ceiling, the Mcdonalds tables are replaced by tables laid in the finest silk, we're no longer in McDonalds, we're in the ritz. The waiter takes away our Mcdonalds, lights a single candle between us and leaves us with a menu. Everything is $100, but that's ok, because I am now a millionaire, a millionaire solar panel expert who gives any spare energy to seal sanctuaries for free. Her normal dress is replaced by a gown of finest silk, and I'm in a tux.

I then turn to the camera. I am the old spice man.

Nothing. That kind of stuff never shows up in my dreams.

It's mostly my own death (drowning seems to be the most frequent), gunfights, and monsters (like hybrid spider-ants) or zombies. Oh and dragons that command undead armies by speaking in dubstep.

Outlandish? You just described like, wandering a bookstore or whatever with a potential date/love interest. That's, hardly outlandish as far as dreams go xD Hell I've had this happen to me IRL actually. Met a girl at a large rave, with several outdoor events. We ended up wandering around, me just sort of following her as she flitted about being high and spacey.

So, I guess to answer your question of "what would I do" ? ....I'd continue to go around with this person and enjoy myself if possible. You didn't describe any negative aspects to the situation, just a simple social encounter, that grew into something slightly more. That's, kind of how social interactions work. You meet someone, you talk, you spend more time, possibly moving around more interesting locations, and talk more and get to know each other more. Your dream is a pretty typical date scenario. I would suggest continuing to enjoy the situation and just roll with it.

Probably start having a much more interesting dream where I'm a pianist playing for a crowd or am conquering swarming lions with my bare hands.

Wake up and realize it was all a dream. The fact that I didn't get the meal to go given the crowdedness of the restaurant would frighten me due to how out of character it is for me. Such fright is sure to wake me up or quickly morph the dream into something else.

Eh... The best "worst" case scenario is that I end up gaining a new friend instead...

Other than that, I can't say this would have been the first time this has happened to me... and I would not be surprised if the outcome did end up being like how it was before... *shrugs*
