That's tough, there's nothing to do where I live, so I have to hold on to what entertainment I can get.

My famine would be work. But i'd keep getting payed. I work five days a week, 8 hours a day, 6-3 spending the whole days standing (which is a lot harder than it sounds) and on ocasion i shovel 400 tons of shit out of the sheds. But at least it pays good. Another day, another dollar.
Nope, if you gave up your job, you will not get payed. It's the rule of the famine; one I just made up.

Please pick something you would be reluctant to give up for 40 hours.
Aw! You're no fun mate.
I know. Deal with it.

I've been thinking about trying to go a few days without eye-sight, even before this "40 hour famine" just to see what it's like to be blind.

That's what I'd do, I'd wear these small plastic caps over my eyes (like the ones you have in tanning beds) and then wrap cloth or something around my head/eyes.
Then I'd wear this for 40 hours to see what it's like not being able to see.

You have to give up something important to you, otherwise there's no point in giving it up.

i have gone without food for over 72 hours and i must say i wouldn't be able to do that again. I would say give up my bed but i sleep on the floor half of the time any way... Perhaps i would just give up on electricity at home for like a five day week. i would extend it because it would only really have an impact at night. i would have to do everything by candle light and cook over a campfire or some crap like that.

What would I go without?

Alcohol. Given I'm trying to lose weight, that's not too tough, actually.

Ok then, sex. Near on six weeks of none of it seems to have made me almost able to endure the lack. Another 40 hours won't make much difference :/

Games? HAH! What games? Been doing so much bloody assignment work lately I'm grateful to play through half a map in Dark Crusade at the moment.

40 hours of no vision would be ... an interesting experience. Hmmm...

Vision came to mind, but I think becoming deaf for 40 hours would be a more interesting experience. For me at least. I like to be underwater, though I suspect it would be a far different sensation; my question is different how?

More fancifully: fingers, sense of balance, or touch (throughout the body).

Well, It's hard to know. I've done stuff like this for fun before, mostly to see if I could.

I've gone 3 days without food.
I've done 5 days without communicating in any way.
I've done 2 weeks without internet.
I've done 3 days without shoes.
I've done 1 week with no books.
I've done 3 days without showering (it was suppose to be a week but after 3 days the matter was out of my hands.

I'm not really sure what I would try this time. For 40 hours I think the most interesting thing to try would be sleep. With no coffee or anything just 40 hours awake by force of will. That'd be difficult but ... interesting.

I'd lie to them. I'd say I'd give up all sorts of stuff then go home and do that exact thing. Aren't I the sweetest?

Swearing, when I talk a swear occasionally I tried to do it before and failed miserably. Seriously, I just can't stop I do it without realising.
Ahyeah. I'd try that. Or give up my mobile phone. It's basically my life. Since I've got all my appointments in it, birthdays, exams. Everything.

I read somewhere that someone wanted to give up school. During the HSC year... Not a good idea.

Not really I have went 60 hours without sleep, I did drink caffine..But I also went to a water park and participated. So its not that HARD. You people just don't have some degree of insomnia like me:p

I'd give up rest. Not sleep, rest. sleep is just within that. I wouldn't be able to stop moving, sit/lie down or relax. I am a pretty laid back person, so that would be pretty difficult.
On the subject of why, I do these types of things to test my limits, I don't see what me not eating has to do with anyone else.

If I wanted to challenge myself, I'd go without sleep. I'm not the kind of person who can easily stay up all night, so I'd find it a pretty big commitment to go an entire 40 hours.

Going without sleep for 40 hours is waaay too easy for me, I have been awake for 40 hours on numerous occasions.

Easy, go clubbing. Or you can just play games all night but you might get too comfortable.

Realm of the impossible: losing sense of touch, that would be quite the experience.
Realm of the possible: Sleep, I'm actually kinda attempting it now before summer ends.
Wouldn't give up entertainment however, would go insane.
