Whiskey is my absolute favorite drink so if anyone has any recommendations for whiskey id be glad to hear them out. Havent had one i didnt like yet.
Whisky is as varied as wine, so I'd recommend investing in a selection of single malt scotch miniatures. The difference between single malts & blends, bourbon & sour mashes is huge, similar to the difference between XO premier cru cognac & cooking brandy. My favourite whisky would be an Islay (Ardbeg) from the south of the island. They're richer than the ones from the north, & have a higher phenolic content (an iodine tang).
If you're looking for something with a softer, sweeter flavour then you'd be better off going for a Jura. Although an island distillery, the Juras lack any of the Islays' phenol tang, & are much lighter in general.
There are loads of others, the Speyside distilleries produce about twenty or thirty different malts, as well as other islands like Skye (which produces Talisker, not a bad drop), the Highland distilleries, & so on. Like I say, just get an assortment of single malt miniatures representative of the varying regions (they sell them in collection packs of six & a dozen I think), & if you like whisky you'll find at least a couple of fantastic ones.
