What's a System Upgrade without A Library Upgrade

I'm primarily a PC gamer these days and have been for quite some time. The trouble is, because lots of those notable games that would truly stress a PC have been released on consoles where my circle of friends play, I've not had much reason to upgrade since my last system rebuild.

That was in 2009 and, now, my system is really starting to show it's age. That is all changing in the next week as the parts for a new system come trickling in from around the internet.

Unfortunately, as a result of this neglect, I feel there have been lots of really great PC games I've missed out. The only games I really played on PC, beyond the obvious Bethesda releases thanks to the fantastic modding community, have been various online titles not found on other platforms (Mechwarrior Online, Dawn of War 2, League of Legends, etc).

Since the Steam summer sale is coming up soon, I figure now would be a perfect time to get the communities input on titles I ignored for one reason or another. To help things along, I'll simply say that I'm open to most genres though these days I tend to favor the RPG or RTS above most. When it comes to RPGs I favor intricate nested systems as much as story and setting (Because, it turns out, I like playing with systems as much as playing actual games). With RTS titles, I tend to favor games that have a greater focus on the actual conduct of the battle than in the micromanagement of an economy and build order. I've played Total War of course up through Empire when I stopped having been deeply disappointed with how the AI seemed completely incapable of besting the most rudimentary of battle strategies.

When it comes to other Genres, my experience is far more limited especially in the indie space. The last indie game I recall playing was FTL. First Person Shooters, as a genre, tends to incredibly tedious these days, so if you suggest one of those it needs to be something other than a Call of Duty style thrill ride. As a result of parts purchased, I'll already be getting Farcry 3 and Blood Dragon as well as Crysis 3 so no need for those suggestions. I'm generally willing to try just about any game though if it seems well outside my wheelhouse, having a playable demo would certainly help.

The final addendum is that while the new parts are not bleeding edge, they should be, by my reckoning, sufficient to play any currently available game at maximum settings at very acceptable frame rates. I'm also open to games released outside that 2009 to present window assuming it can be grabbed from GOG or a similar service that helps ensure compatibility.

So, Escapists, with all that in mind, what do you have for me?
