I'm kind of confused. I start a thread so as to probe the religious as to why they are as such, some idiots post "OMG RELIGION!" and some-such and suddenly the thread's locked?

It was a very surreal experience. If those people only posted to mock those who discuss religion... why did they enter a topic about religion?

Do Mods work on reverse democracy now? I start a thread, get about 13 replies but if 3 of those replies are random twits yelling "Mod!" the thread locks up like a bad door?

What the hell happened?

There has been an explosion of religion threads recently. The topic has been done to death and people are sick of it. Also, threads about religion tend to promote nothing but arguments and anger. Thus, people want it locked.

Threads like this one don't usually go over well either, and this will probably be locked swiftly.

Because you haven't used the search button. That topic has been done to death, undeath, and redeath.

dude, religious topics are always, ALWAYS firestarters and troll bait. over the last month we have had well over 50 religious based topics ranging from athiesm to zooastroism all ending in tears and locks. I for one am sick of it.

im sorry you feel hard done by, but by now everybody has made their thoughts on religion pretty clear, and even here it's becoming harder to start any kind of contraversial topic without the impending flames

What? The topic of religion or the topic of asking religious people about things? You're not very clear, Mr. Pheonix.

Well, I honestly wasn't trying to "bait" or whatever your hardcore forum types say.
I asked a question in good hopes that it (the thread) would perhaps allow me some ability to compare myself to others, to see how common my "view" is, perhaps.

Instead, I come off with this feeling that people are rather rude.

I am starting to feel this strange NMA-esque attitude lingering in the air, like the pungent aroma of death.

good, then we have done our job.
Charming. A wonder that I dislike people.
Most users are tired of religious threads. They're just retreads of old arguments we've seen a a dozen hundred times before and all it does is break out into attacks on people making the arguments rather than the arguments themselves, tempers flare, probations/bans are given out and generally people leave the thread feeling like they need a shower to get the dirt off them.

It's not pretty, it's not pleasant, but that's what religion (and lack of) does to some people. For future reference, if you have an issue with a thread lock/banning, PM a mod (nilcypher or wilsonscrazybed are fairly good bets on who to PM generally) and ask for reasoning and explanation.

Okay, but just to reiterate. I wasn't trying to start a debate, it was a question thread.
Just want that clarified.

Okay, so perhaps I should have used the search button... but I had assumed that since I didn't see a religious thread on the first page, I'd be safe to post.

That is never safe to assume. If you don't search, it will likely get flooded by deja-nazis, then locked.

No, I meant I had assumed that the religious threads had died since I posted a few weeks ago (because I saw none), so it'd be safe to post a non-aggresive thread about religion. Guess I was wrong.

Jesus.
