Whats IP mean?

Hey everybody I always see IP in gamings news and I never know what it means, /if anybody could tell me that would be grand.

Intellectual Property. Which is like a fancy way of saying: This is our idea! Also can be used to refer to a franchise.

Yeah, It's basically a copyright thing, a lot of people mention it because ideas are so easy to steal.

IP=Intellectual Property, its also a way to say "This is my idea fock off! Unless you want to buy it for a couple of millions?"

This. Generally used to describe a new universe. i.e, a new game set in the starwars universe is a new game, but not a new IP, since the universe already exists.
