What's next for CoD?

I was thinking vietnam too. And medieval warfare would probably suck as a first person, its just knifing but with swords.

I did try a few decent medieval fps. Dark messiah for one and also age of chivalry, oblivion,etc.

Oblivion was good but I don't think that works for multi-player so much. At least not in a CoD way.

Don't know but i'd like to see CoD with a branching story/mission structure so that you could play missions based on soldier classes. It would be more interesting to see the game unfold purely through the eyes of a sniper.

Treyarch is releasing CoD: Vietnam later this year, and another developer is going to release MW3 in 2011. I'm not sure if it's still Infinity Ward or not.

God I can't wait for this franchise to die.

Call of Duty: Anglo-Zanzibar War. The short single player campaigns of todays COD games will fit nicely with the war that lasted half an hour. Or perhaps Call of Duty: Suez Crisis?

Seriously though, Vietnam is rumoured to be next. But to be sure, it will be a conflict in which America was involved as I can't imagine an American audience will be interested in playing an entire game as a Brit, Canadian or ANZAC.

Y'know Vietnam might actually be a bad idea, cause it's gonna be from a US soldiers point of view right? But the US lost that war so why would they make a game if at the end of the campaign it screws you over?

Call of Duty: World War 1. You spend the first 9/10 of the game rotting your feet off in a trench, and then you're forced to go over the top and do a suicide charge against German machine guns.

Considering that Infinity Ward's bosses have been fired, MW2's multiplayer was disappointing, Treyarch is still making games, and Activision is whoring the franchise in every possible way (an action-adventure and an MMO, for god's sake!), Call of Duty is dead to me.

To be honest, I want Infinity Ward to make Modern Warfare 3 for plot closure, and then seal the franchise forever so it doesn't get Guitar Hero'd. Of course, Activision would have a seizure at the thought of that idea.
