I may be a hypocrite for posting this thread, but really, I do wonder what is so damn interesting about people getting hit in the crotch as exhibited through this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ro0r2cpIbV8&NR=1
And there are literally thousands (if not millions) of videos floating around YouTube that are solely devoted to crotch shots. See I tried to rationalize this by thinking "it's pain that catches our attention so; we like to see people getting hurt." But I do see some serious problems with it, because I'll be you anything that videos in which people get their body parts mutilated are not the most popular videos around.

So is humour at the expense of other people's genitals just inherently funny? You know, kind of like sex, we were just born with it.

The video in the OP wasn't funny enough to make me actually laugh out loud, but it was a little funny, because you don't see something like that happen all the time. If I knew it was soccer, I'd expect the ball to hit them in the groin. But a person sliding into a part of the goal, groin first, is completely new to me, and a little funnier.

His testicles are not in fact bleeding. If you watch the extended version of this video (which I cannot find at the moment), his friend takes a look at the affected area, and diagnoses it as a "torn gooch."

And how can it be the least funny thing you've ever seen? That kid DESERVED it.

How did he deserve it, exactly, anyway? For skating?
I mean, yeah, sure, you do shit like that and you're bound to get hurt, but I'm not sure anyone actually DESERVES to get injured.
That's a bit like saying a Formula 1 racer deserves to be paralysed for racing as a profession.

But, again, schadenfreude was never my thing.
If you like it, then good for you. Woe betide me to ever derive a person of something they enjoy.
Just don't expect me to double over in laughter at every dude who breaks an arm.

OT:I think it's just that pain is inflicted on someone else, and watching them freak is awesome.

He didn't tear his scrotum, the "gooch" is the area of skin between your balls and your asshole, it's also known as the chode or taint.

He deserves it not because he is skateboarding but because he is skateboarding without a helmet, or any pads, and tries to go off some stairs that are at least 10 feet high. If he has no self preservation instincts, then he deserves whatever happens to him, it's a law of nature.

Also, it's not funny when someone breaks an arm, but considering the fact that your balls aren't exactly in the easiest place on your body to injure (what with being in the center of you body, and protected by your legs), them getting hit is usually the result of something either soo completely stupid or soo completely unexpected that I just can't help but laugh. If a crotch shot comes the way you expect, it's not funny, but when it happens in an unexpected way, it's pure gold.

I'm not particularily good at this whole debate thing, though, so I am afraid you will not get one in return.

That isn't not not not funny. Although I think the humour comes less from the actual accident and more from the kid's reaction.
