Pretty simple question here... what exactly is the difference between DOTA 2 and LoL? I'm just curious here.

And the line "DOTA 2/LoL sucks and LoL/DOTA 2 rocks and that's the difference" is NOT a valid answer. So don't give it.

Well, general idea is the same, it all boils down to mechanics and aesthetic preferences. It's like comparing Call of Duty and Counter Strike. On the surface, they are more or less the same. You have smaller, tighter maps, with smaller teams and no transport. It all boils down to shooting mechanics essentially.
