What's the glitchiest mess of a game you've ever played?

Fallout New Vegas recently took the gold on Glitchiest Game Ever.
Before that, it was probably Final Liberation: a strategy game from 1997.

Unpatched The Orange Box (AKA console versions).

What makes me mad is how broken the game is. I guess Valve's plan was to patch the game without using playtesters, and use the first customers as playtesters.

The Left 4 Dead can be pretty glitchy. Once the A.I. Director fucked up and spawned 5 zombies right in front of me. Plus its pretty easy to go off the map in that game.

Nothing recently, fallout 3 was a mess before the dual core fix is enabled after that its fine.

In the past for me it was c&c generals and tiberian sun, they would always randomly crash with a "serious error" and EA's stance was that its caused by overheating hardware... in other words they couldnt be bothered to find out the cause and never fixed it lol.

I spent ages trying to get dungeon keeper 2 to run as well recently, its really old though so fair enough it dosent work well anymore, ended up having to use my netbook plugged into the screen/keyboard to make it run, it dosent like ATI.

Fallout 3. I decided to give it one more try and discovered that Win7 appears to make it freeze up and crash even more than usual, so it's back on my old pc. Even so it's not so much a question of if it will crash as it is a question of when.

Runner up would be Saints Row 2 on the PC, which is almost unplayable unless your system is way above the 'recommended' specs.

Penumbra:Overture had a ton of visual glitches, though that's made by an indie company so I'm not expecting Crysis-like visuals. Army Men:Sarge's Heroes is the buggiest game I've ever played.

Fun games though.

Black Ops, can't even play it because there's a glitch that make radeon x-series graphics card not work with that game, isn't that the ultimate glitch?

And they are doing nothing to fix it.

New Vegas for me as well. It just froze every forty minutes or so. Really broke up the gameplay and immersion.

that would be an actually quite interesting and tactically challenging Mad Max-ish party-based RPG called The Fall - Last Days of Gaia.

the way it worked, however: After 5 patches, saving would make the game crash and corrupt the save. After 7 patches a main quest character refused to talk to me after completion of the quest, hence no prgress to be made from that point on... (or something like that. I don't remember the correct order of failures, but it was an utter catastrophe)

lol. I just googled the game again. Here is the official website: http://www.the-fall.com/

Sadly, that's a good metaphor.
(Should you get your hands on this game in the Extended Version(!!!!), it's somewhat worth a try)
______
(but, yeah... In order to play my current favourite BFBC2, I have to bypass our router, which essentially means I can only play it when my girlfriend is either not at home or sleeping and in order to play Black Ops shortly after its release, I had to search forums for about a day to come up with the solution to manually adjust the settings.ini to the specs of my system AND deinstall my - specific - antivirus program. The latter got solved about a week later with a patch, the former will probably not be solved at all. -_-)

...I like how no one ever seems to mention that STALKER:SoC had a fucking load of bugs and crashes, some patches made it worse, some patches made it a little better...

So, that's what my votes for. It made Fallout look good.

All the real STALKER fans know to only put up with the official patches until the mod community rolls out and fixes the game for them [/snob]

Still, with that said, I gotta go with Clear Sky. Utilizing their own advertised faction system could make certain parts of the game nearly unbeatable. Not to mention you could never actually achieve a final victory. Even if you managed to systematically execute every member of the opposing faction, they'd still push back to a stalemate the moment you turned your back. And that's just design issues, there's also the save feature only really saving your position, the skybox randomly going out on you, etc etc etc.

Fallout 2 comes to mind. I've probably played glitchier games, but nothing worse comes to mind at the moment.

Still worth playing, though.
