The last one I finished was Shigurui. It was a history of two trainees of a samurai school in 16th century (17th?) Japan. It surprised me a little, action rarely went as I expected. I wouldn't recommend it though, most people would consider it way to horrible to read (some scenes were much more violent than Elfen Lied, Hellsing or Berserk in general). The ending was really sad too... in the end its really hard to tell what is my opinion of this manga, it was sometimes very confusing and difficult to read. I finished also 2 other mangas within last mont: Cage of Eden (very good start and very bad ending that felt totally rushed - very disappointing, the manga had such a great potential - plane crashes on an island full of long extinct animals) and Battle Royale (another violent manga, although I would recommend it, it was very nice, concept similar to the Hunger Games)

I've not actually read anything that has ended (at least as far as I remember). I do keep up to date with One Piece, Toriko, Fairy Tail and Soul Eater though. I get the feeling that Soul Eater is reaching the end, unless some even more wicked entity makes an appearance soon.

I used to watch the Rave anime when it was on UK TV, I know the manga has ended and it is made by the same guy who writes Fairy Tail so I might end up reading through that at some point.

I'm terrible at finding manga I enjoy reading even though there are lots of recommendations out there, commiting to something that is long (100+ chapters) is rare for me regardless of the praise. Although if it has boobies in and isn't too serious then sign me up!

The last manga series that I purchased and read through to completion was probably Petshop of Horrors. I've collected a lot of manga but I rarely finish them. Petshop of Horrors only has 10 issues so it was really easy to finish and luckily for me it's also a really good series! It's basically made up of multiple short stories centered around the various people who shop in and, get pets from Count D, the enigmatic grandson of an enigmatic pet-shop owner. Basically everyone who gets a pet has some quirk or, odd character trait and gets a pet that reflects it in some way. Also the pets are mythic creatures and/or monsters from folklore around the world. As far as I know it's still available and while it's billed as horror there are a lot of comedic and, dramatic elements to the series.

Another poster mentioned Death+Note which reminded me that I also collected and finished Death+Note (except for issue 13 which seems to tbe an epilogue). I remember it being cleaver but that's about it. Petshop of Horrors is my favorite Manga so get that one instead of Death+Note.

Recently, thanks to the Escapist and the folks that hang out here, I stumbled over Mardock Scramble.

To brush up on the things it reminded me of, I went to the japcrap bookshelf and indulged in

Xenon
Battle Angel Alita

and enjoyed them

but then I took up

Crying Freeman
Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freakshow
The Legend of Kamui

and shit got real. Those were amongst the very ones that got me started, and while I like cyber retro steampunk cyberpunk body horror, The Legend of Kamui just blew me away. I completely forgot all about it in the 26 years that passed, and rediscovering it was just great.

Let me tell you that I have absolutely no sympathy for the Marxist mindset, but The Legend of Kamui is just an awesome, timeless piece of comic art. You can get a lot of good stuff out of it, even if you don't give a flying melonfarming feisty farmer out of the intended political payload. Just acknowledge that people can fall for certain mindsets and still not be or consider themselves to be deranged monsters.

Get it. Now.

Uh i'm up to date more or less with Medaka Box and The World God Only Knows if that counts as "finished", they are both totally freaking sweet. In TWGOK's case, the shit they pulled with the main character in the newest arc would have REALLY pissed me off if it were written any other way. I hate child characters so much.
You like the current arc? I think it's more than a little silly. A lot of it feels phoned in and almost like it's ripping off Ghost Trick. But whatever, it's your opinion.

High School of the Dead, 8/10. Once you get past the gratuitous fanservice, it becomes an amazing show.

I just finished re-reading Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. The ending is still batshit insane, even on a second read-through.

Last one I caught up on was Vinland Saga. Last one I read in its entirety was I think 20th Century Boys. Both are top-tier.

For a minute I thought I'd never finished a manga. Then I realized there was one: Yu-Gi-Oh! R.

It had its ups and downs. Its biggest problem probably was the fact it had to make up a ton of minor villains for the characters to duel, each with their own decks. It was fun, though, and since I bought the physical volumes I got...FREE CARDS!!!

First of all I'm gonna nitpick because I have nothing better to do with my life: It's "Death Note;" there's no plus sign. And book 13 of Death Note isn't an epilogue, it's a book of facts about the series. Though it does contain the pilot for the manga. And the manga did get a sequel one-shot, but that's never been officially translated into English.

Now, on the subject of Petshop of Horrors, you're 100% right about the quality. It's great. There's a sequel too; "Petshop of Horrors: Tokyo," wich isn't as good but still great. Unfortunately, they're not that easy to find anymore since the American publisher, Tokyopop, went bankrupt.

So to sum things up, you've got good taste in manga.

I only have two series.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Mardock Scramble. I haven't read the latter yet as I want to finish the book from which it is based first.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica was very good. It was an adaptation of the anime rather than the other way around. In many respects it was almost the same, but slight changes made some areas have a different tone from the anime, but not in a bad way. In some places it helped the context of certain scenes and character interactions.

If you love the anime and enjoy manga in general then I am sure you will really enjoy it.

You don't finish mangas, because they never end.
Well except for the ones that do, and I believe the latest one I finished was Ms. Mayple's Afternoon Tea Time. I enjoyed it very much, it had smiling robots and cakes and all that stuff I like.

Dragon Half

A fucking hysterical manga about a half-dragon girl who goes on an epic quest along her shitty elven friend, who is basically Cartman if Cartman was a cute elven girl.

The whole manga is just a ton of fun.

Also check out the two episode long anime series.

The finished ending (the last dozen of chapters known as Kang Zen Bang) is a tad rushed, but very enjoyable and wraps everything up nicely.

In the manga, halfway through fighting the patch officiants to get to Hao, Manta wakes up from a dream about "princess" Hao and remarks how strange it was, he finds Anna and Anahol on a beach, them getting ready to go to Yoh and his friends, he gets ready to go with them...then it stops.

Literally ends there, before the series could have a conclusion, the finished ending was great though.
I don't understand. What's a finished ending and an unfinished one?
