What's the most expensive thing you've bought?

I started golfing two years ago. I have greatly enjoyed it but the clubs I'm using are older than I am (they were hand-me-downs that were already hand-me-downs), slightly too short for me (1/2 inch or so), and technology has greatly changed since then. They served their purpose and tippy2k2 decided that he needed his own clubs to call his own.

My wallet hates me now

I spent $1013 on Friday buying two drivers, an iron set, two wedges, a bag, and golf shoes. I am well aware that this is CHEAP in the golf world but I did what I could.

-Driver; Taylormade Rocket
-4W; Taylormade Rocket
-Iron Set (3 H & 4 H, 5-9 I; PW); Callaway RAZR X NG Irons
-Gap Wedge; TopFlight 50*
-Sand Wedge; Topflight 56*
-Maxfli Golf Bag
-Golf Shoes; Footjoy

I then realized...outside of necessary things (like a car and rent), this is the most I have ever spent in one shot on something that I don't need. I suppose I've spent this much on gaming over time but never in one shot.

So Escapist people! To make my wallet feel better about what just happened to it, what is the most you've ever spent on something (again, not a necessary item though since most would say "Car" or house" if that's the case)? What did you buy? Are you happy with your purchase or do/did you have buyers remorse?

Feel free to just say what you got if you don't want to give dollar amounts but I promise, we won't judge you :D

EDIT: To make it a bit clearer, do not count items necessary for you to live and work. For example, here in 'Merica, a car is a necessary purchase unless you live in NYC or a similar place. In other places, a car may not be necessary but you bought one because you like to drive it around and therefore it could count as your most expensive purchase.

EDIT 2: Multiple components for one big item DO count if they were purchased together. Like a PC in all it's parts or (in my case) a set of golf clubs since I "technically" purchased 14 or so individual components that morph into a super machine.

The most expensive thing I've ever bought?

An £800 television, after about two years of saving (hey, all of my other frivolous shit's got to be payed for two. Like my house).

My electronic drum kit was just over £500 when I bought it, which just about beats my laptop in terms of cost.

I can't think of anything I have spent more than that on in one go. I don't really go out and buy big things.

My PS3 cost £250 about 4 or 5 years ago but none of that money was mine, it was a joint present from my mum and ex.

I spend probably a bit too much on dresses, the most recent being a £40 50s style one. My casual Lolita cost me £50 and my cosplays usually build up to a lot but I rarely buy them all at once.
I'm not very extravagant. Yesterday I spent about £60 on my mums birthday present (Alfie Boe tickets -_-) and it's usually spent on other people or I order through a catalogue.

Actually I think the most expensive thing I bought was a train ticket to Scotland. -_- What a waste of money. Burning it would have been a better option.

My smartphone cost around £400 and is the most expensive thing I've bought entirely with my own money by a long way. I own more expensive things that I contributed towards but that my parents helped out with too, like my clarinet and my laptop, but I got those when I was younger and less financially independent.

The next closest thing would be festival tickets, which are a bit over £150, plus flights and general holiday expenses to go with them, though those costs can be quite spread out over a few months. I do that once a year as my holiday, other than that I don't really tend to make big purchases.

1,300 dollars on a gaming laptop, that I bought around Christmas 2013. I've actually bought quite a few expensive things the past few months as well. I just spend 300 on a new TV and 390 on a PS4. Thank the gods for savings and birthdays.

Aside from rent/bills/etc, the most expensive thing I've ever bought was a 24 course dinner for two at a world class restaurant specializing in molecular gastronomy. One dessert course was served on top of a pillow full of lavender scented air, so that when you pushed down on the plate with your fork, it would force the air out into your face for delicious sensory overload. It was definitely worth it, but I'll definitely have to do some saving if I felt like making a repeat visit.

$1100 on a TV would be mine. Totally worth it though, gaming on a 55" Full HD LCD is glorious. I received an incredibly large amount of money around that time, so I banked some and spent the rest on that.

Other than that... well if you include monitor and accessory costs, my PC would be somewhere between $800 and $1000. Again, haven't regretted it once.

I specified in the OP that essential things (like a car or mortgage) don't count. Recreational/fun things only.

I'm removing TVs and gaming systems. That being said, I think the most I've spent on something would be a pony plushie. Had her custom made. $330. Not cheap and I had to save for two months to afford her, but I'm very happy with her. Fiddlesticks is awesome.

I can understand why rent/mortgage wouldn't be counted because you need some place to live, but why is a car considered "necessary"? I know plenty of adults who don't drive and get along just fine. If I were making the thread, I'd simply ask what's the largest sum of money you've spent at one time. Most people buy cars and houses with payments, so it's not like they spend all that money at once (although I once paid $8500 cash for a car when I was in high school and had no real expenses so I could save up money very easily).

But, if cars and homes are off limits, I'd go with a furniture set I bough for roughly $2500. Came with a free 50" LED TV, which I figured would be a piece of crap but actually has been surprisingly good. Only complaint is the refresh rate is only 60 Hz, but I can live with that. The furniture was a couch, 3 tables and a TV stand.

Bought my girlfriend a 42" HD smart TV. Set me back about ?1200.

It was for me really in the fact that I now never have to fucking watch 'Xfactor' or 'Made In Chelsea' or fucking 'Home and Away' ever again.

And I can game in the living room in peace whenever I want.

Best luxury item money I ever spent.

-300 dollars on my first flatscreen TV
-500 dollars worth of custom MLP "stuff" from WeLoveFine
-700 dollars worth of anime DVDs/Blu-Rays... some of those weren't even for me, personally...

You can decide which one of those seems pointless to redo again at this point...

Does a car count? Easily the most expensive thing I've bought by a factor of at least 5.

Beyond that, the most money I've ever spent in a single purchase was about $3000 on a computer with a whole bunch of top-of-the-line hardware almost 4 years ago. It's still going pretty damn strong too.

Haha you guys are cute. I just bought a macerating pump unit for the renovation im doing in my basement. Which means I just spent $850.00 on a device to grind up and dispose of shit.

Also I just built a new PC ($1500), bought a new bed and mattress ($1200), carpet for the basement ($1400), and finally a new hot water pressure washer for my business since my employees broke the last one ($7000).
